Description
Tombow Chocolate Marker
The Dual Brush Pen cartridges from Tombow have a very flexible and fine elastic brush tip. Both tips are fed from the same cough tank, ensuring the same shade regardless of the tip used. With the brush tip you can get modulated lines from thin to thick by changing the pressure of the tip on the paper. The fine tip is ideal for lines with the same consistency, outlines, letters, templates, etc.
The paint used is water-based, odorless, non-toxic and acid-free, which can also be used as watercolor. These markers do not pass to the other side of the paper in most cases. If you soak the tips in water, you can get lavas.
You can mix several shades to get new ones, which are not found in the color range. For this purpose, apply a few shades on a glossy, non-porous surface (special sheets for mixing markers or ceramics, CDs) and then mix with a brush and water or a special blender.
The body of the marker has a special design to prevent rolling, 20 cm long and the cap colored in different shades for easy selection during work.
The Tombow 969 Chocolate marker is a warm, earthy shade from the Tombow Dual Brush Pen series, essential in the palette of any tattoo artist working with natural and organic tones. Color 969 Chocolate offers a rich, warm chocolate brown, perfect for representing natural elements such as wood, earth, animal fur, skin tones in realistic portraits, and decorative elements with rustic character. This shade proves indispensable in designs requiring authentic earthy tones, being frequently used in styles such as realism, neo-traditional with natural themes, tribal tattoos, and work inspired by indigenous art. The Dual Brush Pen tip combines the versatility of a flexible brush with fine tip precision, allowing both expressive strokes and meticulous details in a single tool. Tombow water-based ink is non-toxic, acid-free, and blends fluidly with other palette shades, especially with beige, ochre, and black, to create depth and dimensionality. Japanese-quality pigments ensure consistent saturation and faithful color reproduction throughout the marker's lifespan. Chocolate 969 perfectly complements the natural palette alongside greens, ochre, and earthy reds. Color consistency throughout the marker lifespan is an important advantage for artists working on long-term projects wanting to maintain the same palette between design sessions. Tombow water-based ink is environmentally friendly and contains no toxic or carcinogenic substances. Chocolate 969 is a color every tattoo artist should have in their collection, being one of the most frequently used shades in sketches for naturalistic tattoos, portraits, and organic-themed compositions.
Frequently Asked Questions
What exact shade is Chocolate 969?
Chocolate 969 is a medium-dark chocolate brown with warm reddish undertones. It evokes the color of premium milk chocolate. Neither as dark as espresso nor as light as caramel, it is a balanced, rich brown that works excellently as a base tone in natural compositions.
Is it suitable for skin tones in portraits?
Yes, Chocolate 969 is frequently used as a base for skin tones in realistic portraits, especially for medium and dark tones. Mixed with beige, ochre, and white, it allows creating a complete range of skin tones. It is one of the fundamental colors in a portrait artist's palette.
How does Chocolate combine with greens for botanical designs?
Chocolate 969 combines exceptionally with Tombow dark green to create realistic botanical designs. Brown renders branches, stems, and earth, while green renders leaves and vegetation. The transition between the two colors can be blended for natural effects. Together they create a convincing organic palette.
Can I use Chocolate for tribal designs?
Yes, Chocolate 969 is excellent for tribal and ethnic designs, offering a warm alternative to black. Brown provides a more organic, natural appearance suitable for designs inspired by Polynesian, Maori, or Native American art. It can be combined with black for additional contrast and depth.
Does the ink blend well with cool colors?
Chocolate 969 is predominantly a warm color that blends best with other warm tones. Combining with cool colors like blue or violet can create interesting effects but requires practice to avoid muddy shades. For optimal results, use Chocolate in combinations with warm or neutral tones.
How intense is the pigment at first application?
Chocolate 969 pigment offers good saturation at first application, sufficient for most uses. For areas requiring maximum intensity, a second layer after the first dries can enhance color depth. Avoid overlapping on still-wet ink which can create uneven spots.
Is the marker compatible with tracing paper for stencils?
Yes, Tombow markers work on tracing paper, but water-based ink may behave differently compared to standard paper. On glossy surfaces, ink may require more drying time and may slide. Always test on a small piece of tracing paper before starting the final design.
How do I keep the brush tip in optimal shape?
To maintain the brush tip in optimal shape, always close the cap immediately after use. Avoid excessive pressure that can deform fibers. Use smooth paper that does not prematurely wear the tip. If the tip becomes slightly deformed, rotate the marker during use to naturally reshape it.
Is Chocolate 969 included in standard Tombow sets?
Chocolate 969 may be included in certain Tombow themed sets but not in all basic sets. If you specifically want this shade, individual purchase is the safest option. On tatuat.ro it is available as an individual product, guaranteeing you get exactly the color you want.
What brown alternatives exist in the Tombow palette?
The Tombow palette includes multiple brown shades, from light tones like Tan and Sand to dark tones like Dark Brown and Raw Umber. Chocolate 969 sits in the medium-dark segment with warm undertones. Combining multiple brown shades allows creating depth and variety in designs.
