Guide & full description
Complete guide: Base Ink Pure Black 15ml
A professional black ink based on high-purity carbon pigments, in a compact 15 ml format, designed for all stages of a tattoo: lines, fills, and shading. The vegan formula complies with the European REACH regulation, and the bottle comes sterile-packed. The small size makes it ideal if you want to test the Base Ink range before moving to a larger volume, or if you need a reliable black in your convention or guest spot kit.
How to use
- Check the integrity of the seal and bottle before first use — the product is sterile-packed, and the intact seal guarantees this.
- Shake the bottle well before each session to ensure the pigment is evenly distributed in the formula.
- Set up the work station with gloves and protective barriers, then pour the ink into disposable ink caps — only the amount needed for the current session.
- Never pour ink from the cap back into the bottle and do not touch the bottle neck to the cap or other surfaces — this avoids contaminating the entire contents.
- Work directly from the cap for lining and packing; for smooth or whip shading, you can dilute the ink in the cap with an appropriate tattoo solution, according to your working preference.
- At the end of the session, discard the ink caps along with the remaining ink and other disposable consumables — poured ink is not reused on another client.
- Wipe the outside of the bottle with clean gloves, close it tightly, and store it at room temperature, away from direct light and heat sources.
Tips from us
- The formula is identical across all volumes in the range (15, 30, 120, and 240 ml), so you can safely test with 15 ml: if you like how it flows and settles, move to a larger volume with no difference in behavior, at a better price per milliliter.
- Keep a 15 ml bottle as an emergency backup in your kit — black is the ink that runs out fastest in any studio.
- The compact format is made for travel: at conventions or guest spots, it takes up little space and covers a full day of work.
- Mark the opening date on the bottle to keep traceability in studio records and properly rotate stock.
- Pour small portions into caps and top up as needed — you waste less ink than if you pour 'with reserve' from the start.
Frequently asked questions
Does it work with any tattoo machine and any cartridges?▾
Yes. The formula consistency is calibrated for a constant flow through any tattoo machine, including wireless models, and is compatible with all types of needles and cartridges. You don't need any special setup to work with it.
What techniques is this black suitable for?▾
It is an 'all-round' black: precise lining, dense packing, smooth shading, and delicate whip shading. It basically covers all black needs in a piece, from outline to shadows, without having to switch ink between stages.
Is the 15 ml bottle enough or should I go straight for a larger one?▾
It depends on your style: if you do predominantly lining and details, 15 ml covers several sessions; with extensive black fills, consumption increases significantly. The 15 ml format is designed as a test size, backup, or travel size — if you know you use black consistently, the 30 or 120 ml options are more cost-effective per milliliter.
Is it safe and compliant with European regulations?▾
Yes, the ink complies with the European REACH regulation (the 2022 standard for tattoo inks), has a vegan formula, and is packaged sterile. However, always check the seal upon receipt — it is standard practice for any sterile consumable.
How do I store the bottle so the ink doesn't degrade?▾
Close it tightly after each use and store it at room temperature, away from direct light and heat sources. Handle it only with clean gloves and do not pour used ink back into the bottle — contamination, not time, is the most common reason an ink becomes unusable. Respect the expiration date on the label.
Does this black stay black over time or does it turn blue?▾
The carbon pigment formula is designed for color stability, meaning it maintains its depth without shifting toward blue or brown. Keep in mind, however, that the final healed appearance always depends on your technique, the depth of application, and the aftercare of the tattoo.
