Guide & full description

Complete guide: CHEYENNE SOL NOVA UNLIMITED II 3.5MM

Professional wireless tattoo machine from the second generation of the Sol Nova Unlimited series, manufactured in Germany by Cheyenne. The version with a fixed 3.5 mm stroke is considered the 'all-rounder' of the range: a good balance between lining and shading, suitable for artists who want a single versatile machine without a power cord. It comes with an integrated OLED display, two fast-charging Li-ion batteries, a charging station, and a robust transport case, and the interchangeable drive unit system allows you to later add other stroke lengths on the same control unit.

How to use

  1. Fully charge both Keeppower 18500 (2000 mAh) batteries in the included charging station — full charging takes approximately 2 hours if you use a QC3.0 5V power source with at least 1.8A.
  2. Insert the battery via the sliding unit, attach a compatible grip (SOL Nova Grips or Disposable Grips One Inch / Ergo Round) and a sterile, disposable needle cartridge.
  3. Before the session, cover the machine body with a disposable protective barrier (plastic wrap or machine cover) — the machine body cannot be autoclaved.
  4. Turn on the machine and choose your preferred control mode: the 3 buttons, the classic Sol Nova Unlimited gesture, or the new volume gesture control.
  5. Set the working frequency in the range 25–150 Hz and choose between Steady mode (constant stroke) and the three Responsive modes, monitoring the parameters — frequency, active mode, and battery level — directly on the OLED screen.
  6. Continuously adjust the needle depth between 0 and 4.0 mm, depending on the technique and the cartridge used.
  7. When the battery runs low, quickly swap it via the sliding unit with the charged backup, so you can work without long interruptions.
  8. Finally, dispose of the cartridge and disposable grip as biohazard waste, remove the protective barrier, and disinfect the machine surfaces with a suitable surface disinfectant — never immerse the machine in liquid.

Tips from us

  • The 3.5 mm stroke covers both lines and shading well; if you need a different stroke, you can buy drive units separately — the change is done in two clicks, and the control unit remembers the settings for each stroke.
  • Always keep the second battery charging: with over 5 hours of autonomy per battery and rotating the two, you cover a full day of work.
  • Adjust the screen brightness and orientation from the settings, so you can read the parameters comfortably regardless of how you hold the machine.
  • Use a QC3.0 power supply (5V, at least 1.8A) to benefit from the fast charging announced by the manufacturer (~2 hours).
  • Transport and store it in the included robust case to protect the connectors and control unit.
  • Keep the invoice: the machine has a 24-month warranty.
Warning: The machine body is not sterilizable and should not be immersed in liquids: for each client, use disposable protective barriers over the machine, sterile disposable needle cartridges, and disposable or properly sterilized grips. Between sessions, disinfect the machine surfaces with a surface disinfectant compatible with electronic equipment. Sharps and contaminated waste must be disposed of in dedicated containers, according to hygiene standards for tattoo studios.

Frequently asked questions

What styles is the 3.5 mm stroke suitable for?

It is the 'all-rounder' stroke of the range: firm enough for lines and gentle enough for shading and fills, so a good choice if you want a single machine for most work. On this version, the stroke is fixed, but the interchangeable drive unit system allows you to switch to a different stroke (e.g., 2.5 mm or 4.5 mm) in two clicks by purchasing the desired unit separately — settings are saved for each drive unit.

How long does the battery last and what do I get in the package?

The Keeppower 18500 2000 mAh battery offers over 5 hours of continuous work, and full charging takes about 2 hours with a QC3.0 5V source and at least 1.8A. In the package, you get 2 fast-charging Li-ion batteries, the charging station, the cable, and a robust transport case — with the second battery in rotation, you can work practically all day.

What grips is it compatible with?

With all SOL Nova Grips and Disposable Grips in the One Inch and Ergo Round variants. If you work in an intensive professional regime, disposable grips greatly simplify hygiene because you throw them away after each client.

How do I sanitize the machine between clients?

The machine body cannot be autoclaved, so the basic rule is the barrier: cover the machine with disposable wrap or sleeve before each session. After the session, discard the barrier, cartridge, and disposable grip, then wipe the machine surfaces with surface disinfectant. Do not immerse it in liquids and do not spray disinfectant directly on the connector area.

What does the screen display and how do I control the machine?

The integrated OLED display shows in real time the working frequency, active mode, and battery level. Control is as you prefer: via the 3 buttons, the classic Sol Nova Unlimited gesture, or the new volume gesture control. You have Steady mode for constant stroke, and three Responsive modes that adapt to the way you work, plus continuous adjustment of needle depth between 0 and 4.0 mm.

What does the Unlimited II add compared to the first generation Sol Nova Unlimited?

According to the manufacturer: integrated OLED display for parameters, 3-button system for advanced control, a new concept for quick battery change via the sliding unit, improved battery connector for a more stable connection, and standard Keeppower 18500 batteries with fast charging support. The typical Cheyenne advantages remain: quiet operation, reduced vibrations, and German manufacturing, with a 24-month warranty.
