Guide & full description

Complete guide: Dynamic Mixing Solution 120ml

Dynamic Mixing Solution 120ml is a sterile, non-pigmented solution produced by Dynamic Color specifically for diluting and adjusting the consistency of water-based tattoo inks. It is made from pure, medical-grade water that is filtered, distilled, and UV-treated, with the addition of witch hazel for a gentler feel during use. It is used by artists who want to create custom gray tones from black, thin out inks that are too thick, or revive inks that have thickened slightly. It is not ink — it contains no pigment, so it does not color the skin, but serves only as a working 'vehicle' for the inks you mix.

How to use

Prepare your workstation with protective barriers and a sterile, single-use container or cup dedicated to mixing, separate from the original bottle.
Pour Dynamic Mixing Solution directly from the bottle using the controlled-pour cap, without touching the bottle's mouth to non-sterile surfaces or tools.
Gradually add black ink (or another water-based ink) to the solution in the mixing container, adjusting the amount based on the desired gray shade or consistency.
Gently mix with a sterile, single-use tool until you achieve a uniform color and consistency.
Test the resulting ratio on a small area or on artificial skin before using it in a session, especially if it's a new mix.
Use the mixture soon after preparation — being diluted, it can spoil more quickly than the undiluted ink in the bottle.
Tightly close the original bottle after each use and keep it away from contamination between sessions.
Dispose of any unused mixture left in the working container according to your studio's hygiene protocol — do not pour it back into the original bottle.

Tips from us

Never mix directly in the original bottle — only take out as much as you need into a separate container to avoid contaminating the rest of the solution.
Write down the ratios that work for each gray shade so you can reproduce the result in future sessions.
Gently shake the base ink before diluting it, for even pigment dispersion in the mixture.
Adjust the amount of solution based on the needle configuration used — over-diluted ink flows differently than thick ink.
The bottle does not need to be shaken before use — keep it tightly sealed at room temperature between uses.
If you dilute frequently and use large amounts, the product is also available in a 240ml format.

Warning: The product is packaged sterile, but the initial sterility is no longer guaranteed after opening and repeated use — treat each portion taken from the bottle as single-use material in separate containers. Never reintroduce into the bottle any ink or solution that has already been in contact with skin, needles, or other tools. Use gloves and the usual protective barriers at your workstation and dispose of mixture leftovers according to your studio's hygiene rules.

Frequently asked questions

What exactly is Dynamic Mixing Solution and what is it used for?▾

It is a sterile, non-pigmented liquid made from medical-grade purified water (filtered, distilled, UV-treated) with added witch hazel, specially formulated to be compatible with water-based tattoo inks. It is used to dilute black ink and create custom gray tones, to reduce the viscosity of inks that are too thick, and to rehydrate inks that have slightly thickened. It contains no pigment, so it does not color the skin on its own.

Can I use regular distilled water instead of mixing solution?▾

Technically you can, but it is not recommended as a complete replacement. Dynamic Mixing Solution is specifically formulated for compatibility with tattoo inks and is packaged sterile from the factory — ordinary distilled water does not offer the same guarantees of sterility and compatibility with ink. For consistent results and safety, it is safer to use the dedicated product.

Does it work with inks from any brand, not just Dynamic?▾

Yes, it is compatible with most professional water-based tattoo inks, regardless of brand — for example Eternal, Intenze, World Famous, or Fusion. It is not intended for alcohol-based or oil-based inks, which are very rarely used in modern tattooing.

Does the bottle need to be shaken before use?▾

No, the Dynamic Mixing Solution bottle does not require shaking. It should be stored at room temperature with the cap tightly closed between uses.

How long does a 120ml bottle last?▾

It depends on how often you manually dilute ink. An artist who dilutes black for gray wash every session typically uses a few milliliters per session, so a bottle can cover several weeks of work at a normal studio pace; if you only use the solution occasionally for consistency adjustments, a bottle lasts much longer. For frequent use, there is also a 240ml version.

How do I maintain hygiene when mixing ink with the mixing solution?▾

Take only the amount you need from the original bottle into a separate single-use container — do not mix directly in the bottle and never return to the bottle anything that has come into contact with skin or tools. Use protective barriers and gloves as with any other step of the session, and discard any unused leftovers — do not save them for reuse.
