Guide & full description
Complete guide: Fusion drawing brush Opaque Gray Dark 15 ml
Professional drawing ink from the Fusion range, in the shade Opaque Gray Dark — a neutral dark gray with strong opacity, delivered in a 15 ml bottle. It is part of the Opaque Gray series of five pre-dispersed gray steps, designed for value studies, deep shadows, and contrast areas in monochrome works. The water-based formula contains organic pigments, distilled water, witch hazel, and alcohol, being 100% vegan and cruelty-free, with no fillers. Important: the product is intended exclusively for drawing, not tattooing.
How to use
- Shake the bottle vigorously for about one minute before each use to homogenize the pigment.
- Pour only the necessary amount into a separate disposable container (ink cup); never work directly from the bottle.
- Use the ink for drawing: sketches, gray value studies, and exercises on paper or synthetic training surfaces.
- For gradients, combine the Dark shade with the other steps in the Opaque Gray series — it is the fourth of five (Extra Light, Light, Medium, Dark, Extra Dark).
- Build values from light to dark and reserve Dark for intense shadows and defining volumes.
- Do not pour back into the bottle any ink remaining in the working container; discard the excess at the end.
- Close the lid tightly immediately after pouring and avoid contact of the bottle mouth with hands or work surfaces.
- Store the bottle at temperatures between 10 and 32 °C, away from sunlight and frost.
Tips from us
- Test the shade on a sample of the surface you are working on before the final work — a dark gray with high pigment load covers heavily and is difficult to correct.
- If using multiple steps from the series in the same session, label the working containers to avoid confusing similar shades.
- Pre-dispersed grays save you from manually diluting black, so you get the same shade every session — useful when resuming a previously started study.
- The 15 ml bottle is the right format to test the shade or to complete an existing palette without tying up money in a large quantity.
- If the bottle has been unused for a long time, shake it thoroughly again before use — the pigment may settle.
- Controlled pouring from the Fusion bottle reduces waste: pour a little and top up as needed, instead of filling the container from the start.
Frequently asked questions
Can I use this ink for tattooing?▾
No. The product is explicitly sold as drawing ink, and its declared purpose is exclusively drawing. Using it for any other purpose is strictly the consumer's responsibility — the seller assumes no liability in this case. If you need pigments for skin procedures, choose products marketed expressly for that purpose, in accordance with applicable regulations.
What position does Opaque Gray Dark have in the series and how do I choose the right shade?▾
It is the fourth shade in the series of five: Extra Light, Light, Medium, Dark, and Extra Dark. Dark offers a neutral dark gray with strong opacity, suitable for deep shadows, contrast areas, and defining volumes in monochrome studies. If you work with full gray gradients, it is most practical to use multiple steps from the series — they are calibrated to transition naturally into one another.
Why use a pre-dispersed gray instead of diluting black myself?▾
For consistency. Manually diluting black varies from session to session and from person to person, whereas a pre-dispersed shade is identical every time. This way you can resume a study or repeat an exercise with exactly the same gray value, and the series steps remain coherent with each other.
Is this ink vegan?▾
Yes. According to the manufacturer, the formula is 100% vegan and cruelty-free: organic pigments, distilled water, witch hazel, and alcohol, with no animal-derived ingredients and no fillers.
How do I properly maintain and store the bottle?▾
Shake it vigorously for about one minute before each use, pour only as much as you need into a separate container, and never return used ink to the bottle — this prevents contamination of the contents. Close the lid tightly immediately after pouring and store the bottle at 10–32 °C, away from sunlight. Properly stored, the ink maintains its consistency and shade.
Can it be combined with other Fusion shades?▾
Yes. The shades in the Opaque Gray series are designed to be combined with each other for natural gray transitions, and according to the manufacturer, Opaque Gray Dark can also be mixed with the Opaque Blue series for custom gray-blue tones in drawing work. Always test the mixture on a sample before using it in the final work.
