Guide & full description

Complete guide: Intenze Gen Z Power Grey Graphit 30ml

Graphit from the Intenze Gen Z Power Grey series is a professional tattoo ink with a neutral, medium-dark grey shade, positioned between Coal and Slate on the collection's intensity scale. It is part of the Power Grey set, created by Intenze in collaboration with artists Marco Klose and Angelina Mengel, and is aimed at black and grey artists working with medium shadows, volume, and textures. Being a consumable, it is used directly in the session and is gradually depleted with use; the bottle contains 30 ml.

How to use

  1. Gently shake the bottle before each use, to homogenize the pigment before pouring.
  2. Pour only the amount needed for the session into a sterile ink cap, using the bottle's controlled dropper system.
  3. Never pour leftover ink from the ink cap back into the bottle — you risk contaminating the entire bottle.
  4. Use Graphit with your usual machine (rotary, coil, or pneumatic) and with a sterile, disposable needle/cartridge.
  5. Apply Graphit as a base tone for medium shadows and volume; for darker areas combine with Coal, and for lighter transitions with Slate.
  6. Work with your machine's usual voltage settings — no special adjustments are required for this formula.
  7. At the end of the session, close the bottle cap tightly immediately after use, to avoid evaporation and contamination.
  8. Store the bottle in a dry and cool place, away from direct light, between uses.

Tips from us

  • Use Graphit as a tonal anchor alongside Coal (for dark) and Slate (for medium-light) — the three shades form a coherent progression for monochrome work.
  • Being pre-dispersed, Graphit does not require manual dilution to achieve a consistent grey — thus avoiding the typical inconsistencies of hand-mixed grey washes.
  • Note down your Graphit + Coal/Slate mixing ratios that gave you the desired result, so you can reproduce them identically for touch-up sessions.
  • Test the flow through the needle on a practice surface before starting a large area, especially if you change the needle configuration.
  • Keep the bottle upright and away from light, to protect the pigment dispersion in the long term.
Warning: The product is sterilely packaged, but once opened, handle it under professional hygiene conditions: gloves, disposable ink cap, and a new sterile needle for each client. Never insert the needle directly into the original bottle — always pour the necessary amount separately into an ink cap. Check for any known sensitivities or allergies of the client before use and follow your studio's standard working protocol.

Frequently asked questions

What other Power Grey colors can I combine Graphit with?

Graphit is designed to work together with Coal, for darker tones, and with Slate, for lighter medium transitions. The three shades form a coherent tonal progression, useful for portraits, mechanical elements, stone textures, or monochrome ornamental work.

How dark is the Graphit shade?

Graphit is a neutral, medium-dark grey, positioned between Coal (darker) and Slate (lighter) on the Power Grey intensity scale. Its tone, without a pronounced warm or cool undertone, makes it easy to integrate into any monochrome work.

How should the ink be stored between sessions?

Keep the bottle tightly closed, in a dry and cool place, away from direct light and extreme temperatures. Check the appearance and consistency of the pigment before each reuse and avoid returning ink that has already been poured into an ink cap back into the bottle, to avoid contaminating the rest of the contents.

Is Graphit compatible with any tattoo machine?

Yes, it is compatible with rotary, coil, and pneumatic machines, and its pre-optimized formula is designed for consistent flow through different needle configurations, without special voltage adjustments.

How does Graphit behave after healing?

According to the Gen Z formula, Graphit is calibrated to compensate for the natural loss of intensity during the healing process, maintaining its neutral medium-dark tone without perceptible shifting. The final result, however, also depends on the working technique, skin type, and aftercare of the tattoo, factors that are not related to the ink.

Is it a vegan or animal-tested ink?

Intenze Gen Z inks, including Graphit, are vegan, not tested on animals, and formulated to comply with REACH regulations in the European Union. The product is manufactured in the USA and sterilely packaged.

Intenze advanced formulation prevents pigment clumping and ensures perfect bottle dispersion even after long storage periods. It is a grey that every professional black and grey artist should have in their base palette alongside Coal and Slate. Frequently Asked Questions Where does Graphit sit in the Power Grey scale? Graphit occupies the third position in intensity in the Power Grey series, immediately after Lamp Black and Coal. It is a medium-dark grey with neutral character, perfect for medium shadows and three-dimensional volume. It is darker than Slate and Grandpa Grey but lighter than Coal, occupying a critical central position in the monochrome palette. Why is Graphit considered essential for black and grey? Graphit is essential because it covers the critical transition zone between deep shadows and medium tones. Without a quality medium-dark grey, artists rely on inconsistent manual dilution. Graphit offers a perfectly calibrated neutral tone that functions as a tonal anchor in any complex monochrome work. How does Graphit heal after tattooing? Graphit heals exceptionally well, maintaining its neutral medium-dark tone without perceptible shifting. The Gen Z formula has been calibrated to compensate for natural intensity loss during the healing process. After 2-4 weeks, the pigment presents a consistent, strong tone that retains its neutral character. Can Graphit be used for textures? Absolutely, Graphit is excellent for reproducing stone, metal, concrete, and wood textures. Its natural graphite tone makes it ideal for industrial and mechanical surfaces. Combined with Coal for shadows and Slate for highlights, you create photorealistic textures with convincing depth and three-dimensional dimension. Is Graphit compatible with all machines? Yes, Graphit is compatible with all types of tattoo machines - pen rotaries, direct rotaries, coil, and pneumatic. The pre-optimized consistency of the Gen Z formula ensures constant flow through any standard cartridge or needle. It requires no special voltage adjustments and works optimally across the entire speed range. How well does Graphit cover? Graphit offers excellent coverage thanks to the high pigment concentration. A single pass with moderate pressure and consistent speed produces a uniform, dense tone. For large areas, 11-15 curved magnums ensure maximum efficiency. Coverage is comparable to premium formulas from other brands without requiring multiple passes. Is Graphit vegan? Yes, Graphit is 100% vegan and cruelty-free, like all products in the Intenze Gen Z line. It contains no animal-derived ingredients. The pigments are high-purity synthetics, and the product has not been tested on animals. It is certified according to international animal protection standards. Can Graphit be mixed with colors? While primarily designed for black and grey, Graphit can be mixed with Gen Z colors to create desaturated and muted versions. A mix with Mario's Blue creates a sophisticated blue-grey. With Medium Grass you get a realistic muted green. These mixes are popular in muted realism and watercolor styles. How should Graphit be stored? Store at room temperature between 15-30°C, away from direct light. Do not freeze. Shake well for 30-60 seconds before use. After opening, consume within 12 months. Shelf life: 3 years sealed. Ensure the cap is tightly closed after each use to prevent drying and contamination. What is the difference between Graphit and handmade grey wash? Graphit contains dedicated pigments that create a specific neutral tone impossible to replicate through simple dilution of black. Handmade grey wash inevitably varies from session to session and can separate over time. Graphit offers identical consistency every use, guaranteed sterility, and a professionally calibrated tone that heals predictably.
