Guide & full description

Complete guide: Cheyenne Hawk Grip 21mm black

This is the original Cheyenne grip (handle) from the Hawk platform, with a diameter of 21 mm, corresponding to size S (Small). It is the piece that connects the cartridge to the tattoo machine and, being made of aluminum, can be cleaned and sterilized for reuse. The smaller diameter helps artists who work on fine lines and details to grip the handle almost completely with their fingers, for precise, pen-like control. It is useful both as a main grip and as a secondary grip dedicated to precision portions of a session.

How to use

Mount the handle on the compatible Cheyenne machine (Hawk platform — Hawk Thunder and Hawk Spirit; according to the manufacturer, it is also compatible with Sol Terra and Sol Luna), ensuring it is firmly attached without play.
Insert a Cheyenne cartridge into the handle — all Cheyenne cartridges can be used with these handles.
Adjust the needle depth within the available range (0 – 4.0 mm), depending on the technique (fine lines vs. shading).
Apply a disposable protective barrier (film/sleeve) over the handle and cable, as part of the sterile field.
Check the finger position and balance of the machine + grip assembly before starting; the 21 mm diameter allows a close grip.
After the session, remove and discard the cartridge (cartridges are single-use) and remove the protective barrier.
Mechanically clean the handle, then sterilize it by autoclaving before the next client.

Tips from us

The 21 mm (S) diameter is especially suitable for lining and fine details; if you predominantly work on shading/packing on Hawk machines, a thicker grip may be more comfortable.
Keep multiple handles in rotation, so you don't wait for the sterilization cycle between clients.
The displayed price is only for the handle — Cheyenne cartridges and other consumables are purchased separately.
The matte black finish does not reflect studio spotlight light, useful in long sessions.
Periodically check the attachment to the machine; manufacturing tolerances ensure a stable fit, but any play must be corrected before work.

Warning: The handle must only be used under sterile conditions. Clean it mechanically after each client and sterilize it by autoclaving (standard autoclave temperature is typically 134°C) before reuse, and during work cover it with a disposable protective barrier. Never reuse an uncleaned and unsterilized handle between clients; cartridges are single-use and must be discarded after each session.

Frequently asked questions

Does it fit any Cheyenne machine?▾

It is designed for the Hawk platform (Hawk Thunder and Hawk Spirit), and according to the manufacturer it is also compatible with Sol Terra and Sol Luna. All Cheyenne cartridges can be used with it. For other platforms (e.g., Pen), explicitly check compatibility before purchase, as the internal design differs between ranges.

What does 21 mm mean and what sizes are available?▾

21 mm is the handle diameter and corresponds to size S (Small). Cheyenne Hawk handles are offered in sizes S and M; the smaller version (S) offers a closer grip, suitable for precision and fine details.

Can it be sterilized / autoclaved?▾

Yes. Being made of aluminum, the handle can be cleaned and sterilized by autoclaving for reuse. Typical workflow: manual cleaning, rinsing, drying, packaging in a sterilization pouch, autoclaving at standard temperature (typically 134°C), then storage in the sealed pouch until use. Sterilization between clients is mandatory according to hygiene standards for tattoo studios.

How many handles do I need?▾

At least 3, for proper rotation: one in use, one in sterilization/cooling, and one sterile spare. If you have frequent appointments, a fourth handle gives you an extra buffer, so you never wait for the autoclave cycle.

Does the price include cartridges?▾

No. The displayed price is only for the handle; Cheyenne cartridges and other consumables are purchased separately.

What warranty does it have and where is it manufactured?▾

It is an original Cheyenne product, manufactured in Germany according to medical standard ISO 13485, with a 24-month warranty. After any repair, you receive an additional 6 months of warranty.
