Guide & full description

Complete guide: Cheyenne Sol Grip 33mm

The Cheyenne SOL 33mm handle is the thickest variant in the SOL handle range, available in three sizes: S – 22.0 mm, M – 25.4 mm, and L – 33.0 mm. It is specifically designed for the SOL Terra and SOL Luna machines, but it is also compatible with the HAWK Thunder and HAWK Spirit, working with all Cheyenne cartridges. Made of aluminum in Germany, according to medical standard ISO 13485, it is intended for artists who prefer a larger gripping surface for their hand.

How to use

  1. Before purchasing, check that your tattoo machine is a SOL Terra, SOL Luna, HAWK Thunder, or HAWK Spirit — these are the confirmed compatibilities of the handle.
  2. Mount the handle onto the machine following the manufacturer's instructions for your specific model.
  3. Insert a compatible Cheyenne cartridge into the front opening of the handle until it locks firmly.
  4. Adjust the needle depth from the machine's mechanism within the 0–4.0 mm range indicated for this handle.
  5. Visually and tactilely check that there is no play between the cartridge and handle before starting work.
  6. At the end of the session, remove the cartridge (single-use item) and dispose of it according to medical waste protocol.
  7. Clean the handle of visible debris and sanitize it according to your studio's protocol before the next sterilization.

Tips from us

  • Choose the handle size (S 22 mm, M 25.4 mm, or L 33 mm) based on your hand size and work style — a larger diameter offers an extended grip surface.
  • Use only Cheyenne cartridges for a proper fit in the handle mechanism.
  • Periodically check the thread and locking mechanism for signs of wear before each session.
  • If you work with multiple Cheyenne machines from the SOL or HAWK Thunder/Spirit range, you can use the same handle interchangeably between them, according to the manufacturer's compatibilities.
  • Keep the handle clean and dry between sessions, protected from impacts that could affect the thread's sealing.
Warning: The handle is a reusable device that comes into indirect contact with the skin through the cartridge — it must be cleaned and sterilized between each client, following the standard hygiene protocol for tattoo equipment and the manufacturer's instructions. The needle cartridge is single-use: it is used once and disposed of after the session, not reused on another client. Do not use the handle if you notice cracks, corrosion, or thread damage that could compromise locking or sealing during work.

These cartridge grips can be easily cleaned and covered. Additionally, to the already established Cheyenne grip sizes, the Cheyenne SOL Grips are available in the size L, which is based on the design and feel of the SOL Nova machines. Warranty The SOL Grips come with a 12-month warranty. After a repair you will receive an additional 6 months warranty on the repaired products. The Cheyenne Sol 33mm Grip is the original L (Large) size grip for Sol Nova and Sol Terra machines, offering the largest available diameter in the Sol range. At 33mm, this grip is designed for maximum comfort during long shading, color packing, and extensive work on large pieces. The generous diameter distributes pressure over a larger hand surface, dramatically reducing muscle fatigue and finger joint tension throughout 6-8 hour sessions. It is the preferred choice of artists who predominantly work realism, Japanese, and large coverage pieces where hours of consecutive shading are the norm. Premium black matte anodized aluminum, excellent grip surface, optimized weight. Autoclavable at 134°C. Strict tolerances for stable mounting on Sol Nova. While 33mm offers superior comfort for shading, it may be less precise for fine lining compared to 22mm or 25mm. Many artists with large hands adopt 33mm as their primary size even for lining, finding that control is not significantly compromised thanks to the overall superior ergonomics.
