Guide & full description

Complete guide: Xtreme Ink Mixing White Tattoo Ink 30ml

A 30 ml white ink designed primarily for mixing: add it to any other color to lighten the tone and create intermediate shades without changing the palette you're already working with. It's useful both in color work and in black & grey, where the white goes into washes and highlight areas. It's aimed at artists who need a dedicated bottle for lightening colors, as well as those just building their palette who want a single product to cover the entire tonal range. According to the manufacturer, it's part of the Xtreme Ink range, is vegan, sterile, and compliant with EU REACH regulations.

How to use

  1. Check the bottle before opening: the seal must be intact, the label legible, and the expiry date within its term. Do not use a bottle that has been unsealed or damaged.
  2. Shake the bottle well before each use. White pigment tends to settle, and without homogenization the tone will not be consistent from one cap to the next.
  3. Prepare your workstation: disposable gloves, barrier film on the bottle and equipment, new ink caps placed on a clean, disinfected holder.
  4. Pour into the cap only the amount you need. Never insert the needle or cartridge directly into the bottle – you will contaminate the entire contents.
  5. To lighten a color, put the base color in the cap first, then add the white gradually, in small amounts, mixing with a clean disposable tool until you reach the desired tone.
  6. Test the mix on practice skin or a test area before applying it to the skin – the shade in the cap and the applied shade read differently.
  7. Work with your usual machine settings; according to the manufacturer, the viscosity allows dispersion from standard tattoo machines.
  8. At the end of the session, discard everything left in the caps, wipe and disinfect the outside of the bottle, close it tightly and store it in a dry place, away from direct light and heat sources.

Tips from us

  • Add the white little by little. It's much easier to lighten a tone in steps than to fix a mix that has become too light – you usually end up throwing away the cap and starting over.
  • Keep a separate 'clean' white for highlight areas and the white you use for mixes. This prevents color residues left on the tool from dirtying the pure tone.
  • Write down the proportions of mixes that turn out well, in your notebook or directly on a worksheet. A successful tone replicated identically three months later is worth more than any general recipe.
  • Pour only what you will use in a session. Ink left in the cap is never returned to the bottle, so each generous pour means wasted product.
  • Keep in mind that white reads differently depending on the skin tone you are working on. A mix tested on practice skin gives you a guide, but the final decision is made based on the client in front of you.
  • The 30 ml format is enough for many sessions if used disciplinedly; it's worth having a second backup bottle only when you see the first one is approaching half empty.
Warning: The ink is sterile until unsealed. Do not use if the seal is broken, if the bottle has leaks, or if the appearance or smell of the contents has changed from normal. The non-negotiable hygiene rule: no needle or cartridge goes directly into the bottle; work exclusively from disposable caps, and what remains in the cap at the end of the session is discarded – do not pour it back. Use gloves, barrier film on the bottle and equipment, and disinfect surfaces before and after each client. If diluting, use only sterile or distilled water, never tap water. Discuss with the client, before the session, any history of allergies or reactions to previous tattoos, and do not promise a specific aesthetic or healing outcome – skin healing varies from person to person. The product is intended exclusively for professional tattoo use, under the applicable sanitary regulations.

Frequently asked questions

What's the difference between a mixing white and the white I use for highlights?

This product is positioned by the manufacturer primarily as a mixing white: it blends with any other color to lighten the tone quickly. In practice, many artists use the same bottle for both highlight areas and mixes. The practical recommendation is to keep separate bottles for the two uses, so that the tool you mix with doesn't carry traces of colored pigment into the white you want perfectly clean.

Can it be used with any tattoo machine?

According to the manufacturer's description, the viscosity allows dispersion from standard tattoo machines, so you don't need specific equipment. Settings remain the ones you usually work with for that technique. As with any new ink in your kit, the first contact deserves a test on practice skin to see how it settles and how much it loads the needle before taking it to the skin.

How do I store it and how long can I use it after opening?

Store the bottle tightly closed, in a dry place away from direct sunlight and heat sources. The shelf life is the one printed on the bottle or packaging – check it there and do not use it after expiry. After each use, wipe the neck of the bottle before screwing on the cap, otherwise dried residues prevent a tight seal and, over time, contaminate the thread.

What is the correct hygiene procedure during work?

The bottle is covered with barrier film and handled only with clean gloves. You pour into disposable caps exactly what you need, and the needle never touches the inside of the bottle. What remains in the cap is discarded at the end, together with the caps and barrier film. The outside of the bottle is disinfected at the end of the session, and the bottle is stored separately from the contaminated work area.

I'm a beginner and work mostly black & grey. Is it useful for me?

Yes. In black & grey, white is the piece with which you open black for washes and build highlight areas, so a dedicated white mixing bottle covers exactly this need. Advice for beginners: practice the tonal scale on practice skin, adding white in small steps, until you learn how much a seemingly insignificant amount changes the tone.

Is it vegan and compliant with European standards?

According to the manufacturer's information, the product is vegan, not tested on animals, sterile and developed in compliance with EU REACH regulations; it is made in the USA. For the full documentation of the batch you receive – label, lot, expiry – always check the packaging received, as it is the official reference.
