Best Tattoo Cartridges and Needles — Ranked on Real Shop Data
The cartridge is the only part of your kit that actually enters skin — and the only one where "cheap" must never be a criterion. Below is the real ranking by demand from artists in Romania, plus the configuration decoder: what RL, RM, RS and M1 mean, and how to choose diameter and taper for the job in front of you.
Cartridges ranked by real demand: Kwadron RL/RM/RS/M1, Cheyenne Safety, Pro Plus, Big Wasp — from 6.47 lei each, plus what RL/RM/RS/M1 mean and how to pick diameter and taper.
This is not an opinion piece and nobody paid for a spot. The order comes from real shop data: how many people opened each product page over the past months (actual demand from artists and clients in Romania), filtered to items genuinely in stock. Prices are live catalog prices in Romanian lei (RON). Where it matters technically, we also explain WHY you would pick one over another — popularity does not replace fit.

Configuration decoder
- RL (Round Liner) — needles grouped tight in a circle, for outlines. 1RL–5RL = fine lines; 7RL+ = bold lines.
- RS (Round Shader) — same circle, spaced looser: small shading, transitions, detail.
- RM (Round Magnum) — two curved rows: packing and shading with soft edges, the most forgiving.
- M1 (straight Magnum) — two straight rows: colour packing over large areas.
- F (Flat) — a single straight row: bold lines, geometric work, some packing styles.
Needle diameter (0.25 / 0.30 / 0.35 / 0.40 mm) changes how much pigment you deposit and how hard you work the skin: 0.25–0.30 for fine detail and sensitive skin, 0.35 for general use, 0.40 for fast deposit on large areas. Taper (long or medium) decides how "full" the line comes out — medium deposits more, long gives finer control.
Sterile cartridges, individually sealed, with a safety membrane, from an identifiable manufacturer. One cartridge, one client, then straight into the sharps container (from 17 lei in the catalogue). There is no budget compromise here.

Întrebări frecvente
What are the best tattoo cartridges?+
By real demand, Kwadron RL cartridges (6.47–8.27 lei each, 23 configurations) are the most-viewed in the catalogue, followed by Cheyenne Safety Magnum Soft Edge. The right choice depends on configuration though: RL for lines, RM/RS for shading, M1 for packing.
How much does a tattoo cartridge cost?+
From 6.47 lei per piece (Kwadron RL) and 7.67 lei (Cheyenne Safety), depending on configuration and diameter. Price rises with needle count and taper type.
What do RL, RM, RS and M1 mean?+
RL = Round Liner (outlines), RS = Round Shader (fine shading), RM = Round Magnum (packing and shading with soft edges), M1 = straight Magnum (colour packing on large areas), F = Flat (bold lines, geometric work).
What needle diameter should I use?+
0.25–0.30 mm for fine detail and sensitive skin, 0.35 mm for general use (the most common), 0.40 mm for fast deposit over large areas.
Can tattoo cartridges be reused?+
Never. They are sterile single-use items: one cartridge, one client, then straight into the sharps container. Reuse is an infection risk and a breach of hygiene rules.
