Guide & full description
Complete guide: Microblading needle 18U 0.25mm
This is a professional consumable for eyebrow micropigmentation: a curved blade with 18 fine needles arranged in an arc (configuration "18U"), with a diameter of 0.25 mm, mounted on a surgical stainless steel handle. It attaches to a microblading pen and is used for manual hair stroke drawing. The wide configuration covers large areas in a single pass, so it is designed for experienced PMU artists working on full brow reconstructions or dense, defined effects. The product is single-use and comes individually sterilized.
How to use
- Before opening, check the blister integrity and the sterility indicator; if the packaging is damaged or the indicator does not confirm sterility, do not use the blade.
- Open the packaging in front of the client, following aseptic rules, and mount the blade into the universal clamping mechanism of the microblading pen.
- Verify the correct fixation of the blade and the alignment of the needles on the stainless steel handle before starting.
- Load the needles with pigment according to your technique, then stretch the client's skin firmly to achieve uniform incisions.
- Work with a consistent angle and pressure, following the curve of the 18-needle arc, for even hair strokes; since the arc is wide, carefully control the direction of each pass.
- Re-load pigment as needed and periodically check for even deposition across the entire width of the blade.
- After the procedure is complete, immediately dispose of the blade in a designated sharps/medical waste container.
Tips from us
- Being a wide configuration, practice on synthetic skin before using it on a client if you have not worked with blades of this size.
- Combine the 18U blade with smaller blades for the brow head or fine detail areas to maintain naturalness where the wide arc would be too generous.
- Maintain as consistent a pressure and angle as possible across the entire length of the arc — with 18 needles, any deviation is visible over a larger surface.
- Firm skin stretching is essential for clean incisions and evenly deposited pigment.
- Keep a second sealed blister handy for long sessions so you don't interrupt the procedure.
Frequently asked questions
What type of work is the 18U blade suitable for?▾
It is a wide configuration with 18 needles, suitable for full brow reconstruction, filling large hairless areas, and dense, well-defined effects. It covers large surfaces in a single pass, making it efficient on extensive areas, but less indicated for very fine details, where smaller blades are preferred.
Is it suitable for beginners?▾
Not really. The wide 18-needle arc requires precise control of pressure, angle, and direction for uniform strokes. It is recommended for experienced microblading artists; if you are a beginner, it is safer to first get used to smaller configurations.
Which pens is it compatible with?▾
The surgical stainless steel handle has standardized dimensions, so the blade fits microblading pens with a standard universal grip. However, check that the blade locks correctly and the needles remain aligned before starting.
Does it need to be sterilized before use?▾
No. Each blade comes individually sterilized by gamma irradiation, in a sealed blister with a sterility indicator, ready to use. Do not re-sterilize or reuse it — just check the packaging integrity and the indicator before opening.
What is the difference compared to 17U or 19U configurations?▾
The difference is gradual and relates to the arc width and coverage. 18U offers superior coverage with still good maneuverability, positioning itself between the slightly narrower and extra-wide variants. The choice depends on your working style and the client's needs; many artists keep several sizes in their kit.
How fine are the needles?▾
The needles have a diameter of 0.25 mm, a gauge that provides stable and consistent penetration for even pigment deposition across the entire arc width. For very fine or reactive skin, some artists prefer configurations with a smaller diameter; choose according to skin type and desired result.
