Guide & full description
Complete guide: Biotat Zen Hybrid Tattoo Glide 500g
A hybrid tattoo glide that combines Shea butter with the original Biotat gel, resulting in a creamy and smooth texture, scented with the Zen aroma — notes of coconut, cedarwood, and sandalwood on a base of musk and vanilla. In addition to lubrication, the formula reduces redness and inflammation and naturally numbs the area through the power of eugenol from cloves, without lidocaine. The 500g format is designed for professional studios that use the product consistently and want the best price per gram.
How to use
- Prepare your workstation: transfer the necessary amount from the 500g container into a separate cup or container using a clean, disposable spatula — never work directly from the main jar.
- No pre-application before the session is needed — the product works by penetrating the area during tattooing, so start working normally.
- Apply a thin layer to the work area, exactly as you would use any regular tattoo gel or butter.
- Work normally; the formula makes wiping away excess ink easier, and the natural numbing effect sets in throughout the session.
- Reapply a thin layer as needed, as you wipe the area, using only the product from the separate cup.
- At the end of the session, do not use it as a post-tattoo care product — it is intended exclusively for use during tattooing; recommend a dedicated aftercare product to your client.
- Close the lid tightly after each use and store the container at room temperature (18–25°C), away from direct sunlight.
Tips from us
- A thin layer is sufficient for glide and easy wiping — excessive application only consumes the product faster and hinders line visibility.
- If you haven't worked with the Zen line before, test it first in the 100g format — the formula is identical, and switch to the 500g when you know you are integrating it permanently into your work protocol.
- You can safely combine the product with the rest of the Biotat range, from both lines (Zen and classic Numbing), including Green Soap for cleaning.
- Avoid storage at extreme temperatures — below 5°C or above 30°C — because the botanical ingredients in the Zen line can be sensitive to these.
- The hybrid consistency (gel + butter) allows you to cover both line work and shading with a single product, simplifying your workstation.
- The formula is vegan and free of lidocaine or chlorhexidine — a useful argument for clients who ask about the composition or avoid synthetic anesthetics.
Frequently asked questions
Does it contain lidocaine or other synthetic anesthetics?▾
No. The formula does not contain lidocaine, chlorhexidine, or synthetic chemicals. The numbing effect comes naturally from eugenol extracted from cloves, which also has antibacterial properties. The product is 100% vegan and cruelty-free, manufactured in the UK under laboratory conditions according to ISO9001 and ISO22716 standards, and CPNP registered in the EU.
Does it need to be applied to the skin before starting the tattoo, like a classic anesthetic cream?▾
No, and this is where it differs from regular topical anesthetics. It does not require pre-application and waiting time — it is used exactly like any tattoo gel or butter, directly during work, and the effect occurs as the area is penetrated throughout the session. Essentially, it replaces your regular glide, with additional benefits: it reduces redness and inflammation and makes wiping away excess ink easier.
How do I work hygienically with a 500g container used for multiple clients?▾
The golden rule: the main jar never comes into contact with the work area. At the start of the session, extract the necessary amount with a clean, disposable spatula, place it in a separate cup for that specific client, and discard any leftovers at the end. Close the lid tightly after each extraction and store the container at 18–25°C, away from sunlight and heat sources. This way, the large format remains safe throughout its use.
Can it also be used after tattooing, for healing?▾
No — the manufacturer explicitly states: during tattooing yes, after tattooing no. It is a working product for the artist, not an aftercare cream. For the healing period, recommend a dedicated aftercare product to your client.
Is it compatible with the Biotat products from the classic Numbing line that I already use?▾
Yes, all Biotat products are designed to work together, regardless of the line. You can use, for example, Green Soap from the classic line for cleaning and Zen Hybrid Glide as a lubricant during work — natural eugenol is present in both lines, so the products complement each other throughout the session.
What is the difference from the 100g format — is it worth going straight for the 500g?▾
The formula is 100% identical in both formats: the same botanical ingredients, the same eugenol concentration, the same properties. The difference is exclusively in quantity and price per gram, which is more advantageous with the 500g. If you haven't worked with the Zen line before, test it first in the 100g format; if you already use it consistently in the studio, the 500g format is the logical choice from a cost-per-use perspective.
