Guide & full description

Complete guide: Vitamin A and D cream 5 grams

A classic skin protection ointment with vitamins A and D in a white petrolatum base, in a small 5g format from Dynarex. It is commonly used during the tattoo session to lubricate and protect the worked skin, and after the session as fresh tattoo aftercare. The small size, sold per piece, makes it practical for artists who want a separate unit for each client, as well as for clients who need aftercare after a small job. The description mentions it is also useful for piercing as a needle lubricant.

How to use

Wash your hands thoroughly or put on new gloves before any contact with the product and the worked skin.
For aftercare: wash the tattoo with lukewarm water and a mild soap, then gently pat the area dry with a clean paper towel.
Open the 5g package and take a small amount of ointment with a clean finger, glove, or disposable spatula.
Apply a thin, even layer on the tattooed area — the skin should remain slightly glossy, not covered by a thick layer.
Repeat the application a few times a day, after each cleansing of the area, for as long as you follow the aftercare routine recommended by your artist.
During the tattoo session: take the ointment with a disposable spatula, never directly with the glove you are working on the skin, and use it to lubricate the worked area.
The product is intended for external use only.

Tips from us

The 5g format is advantageous precisely because it is small: allocate one unit per client or per session and eliminate the risk of cross-contamination between clients.
Always apply a thin layer — excess ointment on a fresh tattoo keeps the area unnecessarily occluded and will rub off on clothes anyway.
The product is sold per piece, so calculate how many units you need based on the number of clients or the size of the work; for large tattoos, a single 5g unit does not cover the entire aftercare period.
If you work in the studio, keep the ointment on the prepared work table alongside other disposable supplies, and scoop it out with a clean spatula.
Ask the client about known allergies before recommending the product — the formula contains lanolin, a known allergen for some people.

Warning: For external use only. The product contains lanolin — do not use on individuals with a known lanolin allergy. For hygiene reasons, do not reuse the same unit on multiple clients and do not take the product directly with the glove you have used on the skin; use a disposable spatula. If pronounced redness, itching, or any unusual reaction occurs on the tattooed skin, stop application and refer the client to a doctor.

Frequently asked questions

Is a single 5g piece enough for the entire tattoo aftercare period?▾

It depends on the size of the work. For a small tattoo, a 5g amount covers the first applications, which are also the most important. For medium or large works, or for the entire aftercare period, you will need more pieces — the product is sold per piece, so you can order exactly as many as you need.

Can I use the ointment during the tattoo session as well, not just after?▾

Yes, that's precisely one of its roles: during the procedure it's used to lubricate and protect the worked skin. After the session, the same type of ointment is used for fresh tattoo aftercare. It's important to always take it with a disposable spatula, not directly with the glove you're working with.

Does it contain lanolin? I have clients with sensitive skin.▾

Yes, the formula contains lanolin, in addition to vitamins A and D and a white petrolatum base. Lanolin is a known allergen for some people, so ask the client about allergies before giving them the product. For clients with a lanolin allergy, choose a lanolin-free aftercare cream from the aftercare creams category.

How do I avoid cross-contamination if I use the ointment on multiple clients?▾

The safest option is not to use it on multiple clients: the 5g format is designed as a small unit that you allocate to a single client or a single session. During work, only scoop the ointment with a disposable spatula, never with the glove that has touched the skin, and discard any remaining product at the end of the session if there was a risk of contact.

Is it suitable for piercing as well?▾

Yes, according to the manufacturer's description, the vitamin A and D ointment is also used for piercing as a needle lubricant. The same hygiene rules apply here: separate unit per client and strictly external use.

How do I choose between this small format and a larger aftercare cream package?▾

The 5g format is the right choice when you want maximum hygiene (a new unit per client), when you offer the client something to take home after a small job, or when you want to test the product before buying larger quantities. If you're caring for a large tattoo or using a lot of ointment in the studio, a larger package from the same aftercare creams category becomes more practical and economical per gram.
