PPSB (spunbond polypropylene) non-woven wipes, folded in 4, are the basic consumable for any tattoo station: you use them to wipe off excess ink, blood, and fluids during work. Compared to woven or cotton wipes, PPSB material leaves much less lint on the skin, absorbs well, and does not disintegrate when saturated. The folded 5 x 5 cm size (10 x 10 cm unfolded) and the pack of 100 pieces make them suitable both for high-volume artists and for beginners setting up their first station.
How to use
- Before the session, prepare a sufficient stack of wipes on the work surface (covered with a protective barrier) so you don't have to reach into the pack with contaminated gloves during work.
- Apply the cleaning solution — green soap diluted with distilled or sterile water (approximately 1:10) or sterile water — onto the wipe, not directly concentrated onto the client's skin.
- Wipe the tattooed area with gentle pressure; the thickness from the 4-fold gives you enough sensitivity to feel the skin and control the pressure.
- Use a clean wipe for each pass and discard it as soon as it becomes saturated — do not reuse it or put it back on the work surface.
- Use the white color of the wipe as an indicator: you can clearly see how much ink and blood you are absorbing, thus how much the client is bleeding.
- At the end of the session, clean the area with a clean wipe before applying the healing protection, then discard all used wipes as contaminated waste.
- Keep the opened pack closed, in a clean and dry place, away from splashes and dust.
Tips from us
- Calculate consumption generously: for a short lining session, about 10–15 wipes are enough, but a long color or realism session can use 30–50 — better to have leftovers than to run out.
- Do not apply concentrated green soap directly to the skin; dilute it properly and apply it onto the wipe, otherwise you risk irritation.
- The wipes can also be used for other studio tasks: absorbing liquids during piercing, cleaning the work area, or protecting surfaces.
- Take out of the pack only what you use in one session; anything that has been left open on the work surface must be discarded, not put back.
- If you work a lot, get multiple packs at once — at 100 pieces per pack, an active studio goes through them quickly.
