Guide & full description

Complete guide: Creion Biotek Extreme Brun 109

The Biotek Extreme Brun 109 pencil is a cosmetic pre-drawing tool for permanent micropigmentation (PMU) — not an implant pigment, but a pencil used to trace the eyebrow shape or eyeliner line directly on the client's skin before the procedure. It is made with the same Biotek pigments used in micropigmentation, safe, non-toxic, hypoallergenic, and nickel-free, manufactured in Italy. Shade 109 is the most intense in the Biotek brown range — a very dark brown, almost black, with a warm undertone — recommended for clients with black or very dark brown hair and for darker skin tones, where lighter shades would not be sufficiently visible.

How to use

  1. Prepare and disinfect the client's skin according to your usual protocol before starting the pre-consultation drawing.
  2. Sharpen the pencil tip to maximum fineness when you want to simulate individual eyebrow hairs (microblading), or leave it at medium thickness for powder brow contours.
  3. Trace the eyebrow shape or eyeliner line directly on the skin, using the waxy formula with firm hardness that allows precise lines even on darker skin.
  4. Review the drawing together with the client and adjust the shape and line thickness before actually starting the micropigmentation procedure.
  5. Proceed with the normal procedure — the line drawn with 109 is designed to withstand anesthetic solutions, disinfectants, and sweat during a longer session.
  6. At the end, remove any pencil residue from the skin with an oil-based makeup remover.
  7. If working on very light skin and 109 seems too intense in contrast, consider a lighter shade from the Biotek range, such as 108 Smoked Brown.

Tips from us

  • Choose 109 for clients with very dark hair (black, dark brown) or matte/olive skin with warm or neutral undertones — there the contrast is maximum and the line remains visible throughout the procedure.
  • On very light skin, such a strong contrast can be excessive — a lighter shade from the Biotek range looks more natural.
  • Adjust the tip thickness according to the technique: finely sharpened for individual microblading hairs, thicker for powder brow contours or eyeliner.
  • For clients with eyebrows already dyed in very dark shades, the 109 line can be harder to distinguish from hairs — some artists prefer a white pencil for the outer contour and 109 only for hairs inside the shape.
  • Shade 109 also works well as a guideline for permanent eyeliner, providing clear visibility on the eyelid area.
Warning: Always test the skin's reaction before a full procedure, especially on clients with a history of skin allergies — although Biotek pigments are declared hypoallergenic and nickel-free, individual sensitivities remain possible. Sharpen the pencil tip before each new client to expose a clean surface and reduce the risk of cross-contamination. Work on clean, disinfected skin according to your usual hygiene protocol. The product complies with the European cosmetic standard CE 1223/2009.

Frequently asked questions

Is Biotek 109 black or brown?

Extreme Brun 109 is a very dark brown, almost black, but with a warm undertone — not a pure black. The difference matters in PMU: an absolute black can look artificial on eyebrows, while 109 maintains a natural note even with intense application, appearing on the skin as a black-coffee brown.

What skin type is shade 109 recommended for?

109 is designed for clients with black or very dark brown hair and for darker skin tones — Mediterranean olive, South Asian or Middle Eastern matte skin, Afro skin — where lighter shades would not be sufficiently visible. On very light skin, the contrast can be too strong; in this case, the Biotek range also offers the lighter shade 108 Smoked Brown.

Can I use the pencil for permanent eyeliner pre-drawing too, not just for eyebrows?

Yes. The intense formula provides clear visibility on the eyelid area as well, and its resistance helps the line not to fade into the natural folds of the eyelid during the procedure.

How do I care for the pencil between clients, from a hygiene standpoint?

Sharpen the tip before each new client so you always work with a fresh surface, and avoid touching the tip to areas that have not been disinfected. The pencil is used on skin prepared according to your usual hygiene protocol, and traces are easily removed with an oil-based makeup remover at the end of the consultation.

Is it also suitable for PMU procedures on male clients?

Yes, 109 is a frequent choice for male eyebrows on clients with black or very dark brown hair — it offers a natural-intense look without appearing made-up, suitable for thicker designs with sharper transitions typical of male styling.

Does it work on already dyed eyebrows?

Yes, but with a note: on eyebrows dyed very intense black, the 109 line can be harder to distinguish visually from existing hairs. In this case, some artists prefer a white pencil for the outer contour and reserve 109 for drawing individual hairs inside the shape.

Product description

They are the first cosmetic pencils specially designed for the preparatory drawing of permanent makeup. Compatible with permanent makeup, they are made with the same safe and non-toxic, hypoallergenic and nickel-free Biotek pigments. The 16 shades are exactly like the Biotek pigment range and can be used with maximum safety in the pre-procedure consultation phase. The Biotek Extreme Brun 109 pencil is the pre-drawing instrument for permanent micropigmentation in the most intense shade of the Biotek brown range, manufactured in Italy. Extreme Brun is a very dark brown, nearly black, with a depth that provides maximum contrast on skin — ideal for clients with black hair, very dark brown hair, or matte skin with warm or neutral undertones. This pencil is the first choice for PMU artists predominantly working with clients from Southern Europe, the Middle East, South Asia, or any client with naturally dark hair. The firm-hardness waxy formula allows tracing of exceptionally precise lines on darker skin tones, where lighter shades would be insufficiently visible. High-density pigments ensure clear visibility on any skin tone, from medium to very dark. The tip can be sharpened to maximum fineness to simulate individual eyebrow strokes in microblading pre-drawing, or left at medium thickness for powder brow contours. Resistance to anesthetic solutions, disinfectants, and perspiration is optimized for long 3-4 hour procedures. Extreme Brun 109 also functions as a guide line for permanent eyeliner, providing necessary visibility on the eyelid area. Unlike a pure black pencil, the Extreme Brun shade maintains a subtle warm undertone that more realistically simulates the natural color of very dark eyebrows. Biotek 109 does not interfere with pigment absorption, removes with oil-based makeup remover, and complies with European cosmetic standards CE 1223/2009. Frequently Asked Questions
