Guide & full description
Complete guide: Gigasept FF (NEW) 2L Schulke OFFER
Gigasept FF (new) from Schulke is a high-level disinfectant, i.e., a cold chemical sterilant, supplied in a 2-liter bottle. It works by immersion — reusable instruments are fully submerged in the diluted working solution — and performs cleaning and disinfection in a single step, based on succinic dialdehyde and formaldehyde-free. It is intended for clinics and studios that process heat-sensitive instruments, where heat treatment in a pupinel or autoclave is not possible or desired.
How to use
- Prepare a dedicated immersion disinfection tray, fitted with a lid, in a well-ventilated area. Do not spray the product and do not use it on surfaces.
- Prepare the diluted working solution according to the manufacturer's instructions on the label/technical data sheet (concentration and contact time are specified there). Optionally, for cleaning without protein fixation, add 1% cleaning enhancer or gigazyme to the prepared solution.
- Roughly remove residues from instruments before immersing them in the solution.
- Fully submerge the instruments, ensuring no air pockets remain and that all surfaces and internal channels come into contact with the liquid.
- Cover the tray with the lid and leave the instruments for the entire contact time specified by the manufacturer.
- After the contact time has elapsed, remove the instruments and rinse them with water of a quality suitable for subsequent use (e.g., sterile water for critical use).
- Dry and store the instruments appropriately. The working solution remains stable for up to 14 days — note the preparation date and replace it on time.
Tips from us
- Do not combine the product with thermochemical processes based on quaternary ammonium compounds or amines; for such workflows, aldehyde-based products are preferred.
- The product is suitable for heavy contamination (it has been tested under high protein load conditions), but prior cleaning and adding the cleaning enhancer improve the result.
- Mark the preparation date on the tray to strictly adhere to the 14-day stability limit.
- It is compatible with metals, rubber, glass, porcelain, plastic, and flexible endoscopes — but always check your instrument manufacturer's recommendations as well.
- Although it is formaldehyde-free, it remains an aldehyde-based product: handle it with protective equipment and avoid inhaling vapors.
Frequently asked questions
Is it used as is or does it need to be diluted?▾
It is used diluted — prepare a working solution according to the concentration indicated by the manufacturer on the label/technical data sheet. Do not place instruments directly into the undiluted concentrate and follow the recommended dilution ratio.
Can I spray it on surfaces or on the work chair?▾
No. It is exclusively for immersion disinfection of instruments. Do not spray or apply to surfaces, as it may release toxic substances into the air. For surfaces, you need a dedicated surface disinfectant.
Does it replace the pupinel or autoclave?▾
According to the manufacturer's description, it is a high-level cold chemical sterilant, and for instruments processed with it, treatment in a pupinel or autoclave is no longer necessary. It is especially recommended for heat-sensitive instruments. For the specific legal requirements of your activity, check the applicable regulations.
How long does the solution last after preparation?▾
The working solution is stable for 14 days. Note the preparation date and replace it on time, checking the solution's appearance in the meantime.
What materials can I use it on?▾
It is compatible with metals, rubber, glass, porcelain, plastic, and flexible endoscopes (rigid and flexible), and is also recommended for sensitive medical instruments. Even so, check the instrument manufacturer's recommendations before prolonged immersion.
Is it effective even if the instruments are heavily soiled?▾
Yes. The product is tested under high protein load conditions and has a broad spectrum of action — bactericidal (including mycobacteria and M. tuberculosis), fungicidal, virucidal, and sporicidal. However, removing coarse residues before immersion and adding a cleaning enhancer (1%) helps achieve optimal results.
