Guide & full description

Complete guide: Artificial leather 8mm

This artificial practice skin is the ideal support for practicing tattoo, microblading, micropigmentation, or microneedling techniques without working directly on real skin. With a thickness of 8 mm — thicker than the usual thin variants — it offers a feel closer to human skin when puncturing and pulling lines. It is suitable both for beginners and for experienced artists who want to test a design, a new needle, or machine settings before a real session.

How to use

If the piece has a protective film on the surface, remove it before starting.
Place the 280×200 mm piece on a flat, stable surface (drawing board, dedicated support, or worktable); you can secure the corners with adhesive tape to prevent it from slipping during work.
Draw or transfer your desired design (freehand sketch or stencil) onto the surface, just as you would on real skin.
Prepare the tattoo machine or microblading device with the chosen needle and ink/pigment, and work on the material, observing how it retains the ink and reacts to pressure.
Use one side of the piece for practice; when done, flip the piece and use the opposite side, thus doubling the usable surface.
After using both sides, discard it — it is designed for single use on each side, not for cleaning and repeated reuse.

Tips from us

Store unused pieces in a cool place, away from direct light and heat, to keep them elastic and prevent them from drying out or cracking.
The 8 mm thickness provides more resistance to the needle than thin sheets, especially useful when practicing proper pressure or thick lines.
Test on a small area before a full design to see how the needle/ink/machine speed combination behaves on this material.
Get multiple pieces if you practice frequently — being single-use on each side, they are consumed relatively quickly with intensive practice.
Use it also to test a new needle or a new machine before working on a client, not just for basic exercises.

Warning: Although the artificial skin does not come into contact with a client, work with the same safety rules as in a real session: use sterile, single-use needles and dispose of them after practice in sharps containers, not in household waste. Handle ink or pigment with gloves and be careful of any sharp edges of the synthetic material. The piece used on both sides is discarded — it is not disinfected for reuse.

Frequently asked questions

How many times can I use a piece of artificial skin?▾

Each piece is designed for use on both sides: practice on one side, then flip and use the opposite side. After both sides are used up, it is discarded — it is not cleaned for later reuse.

Is it suitable for beginners as well, not just experienced artists?▾

Yes — it is recommended both for those just starting tattooing and for experienced artists who want to test needles, new machines, or designs before working on a client.

Can I use this artificial skin for microblading or micropigmentation as well, not just for tattooing?▾

Yes, the product is also listed for microblading, micropigmentation, and microneedling. The synthetic material retains ink/pigment similar to real skin, making it useful for practicing the fine lines specific to these techniques.

What size is the piece of artificial skin?▾

280 × 200 mm, with a thickness of 8 mm — thicker than the usual thin variants, giving it a feel closer to real skin when puncturing.

Does it need to be disinfected before first use?▾

No special disinfection is required before first use, but follow the normal hygiene rules in the studio: sterile single-use needles, gloves, and proper disposal of used materials after practice.

What do I do if the material dries out or hardens?▾

If the material dries out, hardens, or cracks, it no longer provides a realistic feel for practice and should be replaced with a new piece. Storing it in a cool, dark place helps preserve its elasticity when not in use.
