Guide & full description

Complete guide: Set of 4 Fusion Gradient Black Drawing Inks 30ml

The set contains four 30 ml bottles of Fusion ink from the Gradient Black range: three semi-transparent gray tones, progressively calibrated from light to dark, plus a fourth tone, 'Uncut Black', undiluted. It is a drawing ink — the manufacturer explicitly states it is intended for drawing (sketches, shading studies, paper exercises), not for application as a tattoo on skin. It is especially useful for artists who want a pre-calibrated gray system, without having to manually dilute black each time, for portrait studies, realism, or gradient exercises.

How to use

Shake each bottle individually for 30-60 seconds before first use to ensure the pigment is homogeneous.
Pour a small amount of each tone into separate wells/caps to better control the amount applied and avoid contaminating the bottle.
Start the sketch or shading with the lightest tone (Gradient Black #1) for subtle transition areas.
Add progressively tones #2 and #3 as the area needs more density/shade.
Use the 'Uncut Black' tone for full black areas or outlines, where you want maximum contrast.
If you need an intermediate tone, mix two adjacent tones in a separate cap (not directly in the bottle) — a 50/50 mix gives a tone exactly halfway between the two.
Close the bottles tightly after use and store them at room temperature, away from direct light.

Tips from us

Shake each bottle well before each session, not just the first use — the pigment can settle over time.
Use individual caps/wells for each tone to avoid accidentally contaminating the original bottles.
Being a pre-calibrated system, keep the order of tones (#1 → #3 → Uncut Black) for harmonious transitions, rather than improvising proportions.
The set is complementary to the Fusion Opaque Gray range (opaque inks with solid coverage in one pass) — do not mix the two ranges directly, as they are formulated for different results.
Write the opening date on each bottle, useful if you work frequently with the set and want to track the consumption of each tone.
Keep the bottles away from direct light and heat sources to maintain ink quality over the long term.

Warning: The manufacturer explicitly states that this ink is intended for drawing, not for application as a tattoo on skin; use for any other purpose remains the sole responsibility of the buyer. As with any ink/pigment: keep bottles closed when not in use, avoid contact with eyes and mucous membranes, wash hands after use, and if any reaction (irritation, redness) occurs upon skin contact, discontinue use. Do not use the product if the bottle is damaged or if the ink visibly changes consistency or smell from normal.

Frequently asked questions

What exactly does the set of 4 Gradient Black inks contain?▾

The set contains four 30 ml bottles: Gradient Black #1, #2, and #3 — three semi-transparent gray tones, progressively calibrated from light to dark — plus a fourth tone, Gradient Uncut Black, undiluted. Together they cover the transition from pale gray to full black in a single set.

What is the difference compared to the Fusion Opaque Gray range?▾

They are two systems with different logics. Gradient Black is semi-transparent and works by layering — the tones overlap to build depth gradually. Opaque Gray is designed for solid, opaque coverage in a single pass. Direct mixing of the two ranges is not recommended, as they are formulated for different results.

How does it compare to the Eternal Gray Wash set?▾

Both are pre-calibrated semi-transparent gray systems. The main content difference: the Fusion Gradient Black set has 4 tones (3 grays + Uncut Black), while Eternal Gray Wash is a 3-tone set. The choice between them depends on personal working preference — test them on sketches and see which tone system suits you better.

Are the 30 ml bottles sufficient for regular use?▾

For testing and moderate use, 30 ml per bottle is a reasonable starting amount. If you use the set frequently, the middle tone usually runs out first; for a higher volume of work, check if the manufacturer also offers individual larger bottles for refill.

Can I mix the tones together to get intermediate shades?▾

Yes. The tones in the set are compatible with each other and can be mixed in separate caps (not directly in the bottles) to obtain intermediate tones — for example, a 50/50 mix of two adjacent tones gives a tone exactly in the middle. Essentially, from the 4 base tones you can get a few additional shades without buying other bottles.

How do I store the inks to make them last longer?▾

Shake each bottle for 30-60 seconds before each use, close the cap tightly after use, and store the bottles at room temperature, away from direct light and heat. Do not pour used ink back into the bottle and use separate wells at each session to avoid contamination.

Product description

Fusion Drawing Ink GRADIENT BLACK #1GRADIENT BLACK #2GRADIENT BLACK #3GRADIENT UNCUT BLACK This ink is intended to be used for drawing, not to be used for tattoos. Its use for purposes other than the one mentioned, by the consumer, is strictly the responsibility of the consumer. We do not assume any responsibility in the case of using this tus for a purpose other than the one mentioned. The Fusion Gradient Black 4-Ink Set 30ml is a complete system of pre-calibrated semi-transparent grays designed by Fusion Ink for professional shading and gradient creation in black-and-gray tattoos. The spread includes four progressive diluted black tones from lightest to darkest, plus pure black, covering the entire tonal spectrum needed for realism, portraits, and shading. Unlike the Fusion Opaque Gray range that offers solid opaque coverage, the Gradient Black series works through transparency and layering — conceptually similar to Eternal Gray Wash, but with Fusion's distinctive formula recognized for superior longevity in skin. Each tone is factory-calibrated, completely eliminating the need for manual black dilution — reproducible consistency lot after lot. The 30ml bottles provide sufficient quantity to evaluate the complete system across multiple work sessions. The water-based formulation with purified Carbon Black pigments ensures neutral gray tones when healed, without chromatic shifts. The set is ideal for artists transitioning from manual dilution to a professional pre-calibrated system, and for studios wanting standardization among artists — every artist gets the same tones from the same bottles. EU REACH compliant, vegan, sterilized. Manufactured in the USA. Each bottle is individually labeled and sealed. Shake each tone for 30-60 seconds before use. The Gradient Black system is complementary to the Fusion Opaque Gray range. Store at room temperature, away from light. Lot-traceable with certificate of analysis per production lot. An excellent entry point into professional pre-calibrated gray systems. Frequently Asked Questions
