This stay-up spring is the component that holds the needle bar in the upper (retracted) position when the Hummingbird rotary machine is turned off, and helps the needle return promptly between penetration cycles during work. It is the original replacement part, designed for artists who own a Hummingbird machine and need to replace a worn spring or keep a spare. Its role is subtle but directly linked to line quality and needle tip protection.

How to use

  1. Stop and disconnect the machine, then remove the cartridge/needle and grip module.
  2. Remove the protective film and work on a clean, disinfected surface.
  3. Partially disassemble the machine to access the needle bar and cam mechanism (on the Hummingbird, start by removing the motor bolt / motor section).
  4. Carefully remove the worn stay-up spring, noting the exact position it was mounted in.
  5. Install the new original spring in the same position, without bending or over-tensioning it.
