Guide & full description

Complete guide: Tube vice assembly Hummingbird

The tube vice assembly is the replacement part that secures the tattoo tube or grip onto the body of Hummingbird rotary machines. It is intended for artists using a Hummingbird V1 or V2 machine who need to replace a worn tightening mechanism or have a spare in their kit. As an original part, it meets the tolerances required for a firm, play-free grip.

How to use

First check compatibility: the assembly is intended for Hummingbird V1 and V2 machines and standard 8mm diameter tubes.
Clean the contact surfaces on the machine body and the new part before installation.
Mount the assembly onto the machine's mounting guides and secure it with the provided screws — usually a small Allen key is sufficient, no special tools needed.
Ensure the tightening mechanism (eccentric or screw) moves freely after installation.
Insert the 8mm tube or grip and tighten; the system secures the tube quickly, in a single motion.
Adjust the clamping force: firmer for working with large needles, looser when you need to reposition the grip frequently.
Test stability with an empty tube — it should not rotate or slide axially — before working on a client.

Tips from us

Periodically clean the mechanism of ink and fluid residue; buildup over time reduces clamping force.
Do not overtighten — excessive force can deform contact surfaces over time and accelerate wear.
Keep a spare assembly in your kit: a worn mechanism that allows the tube to slip can stop your work mid-session.
If the tube starts to slip, stop the machine, clean both the tube and clamp with alcohol, then retighten; if the problem persists, replace the part.
Rinse and dry the part completely after each sterilization to prevent residue from remaining in the tightening mechanism.

Warning: Secure tube fixation is a safety matter: a tube that rotates or moves during tattooing can deflect the needle and injure the skin, so check the grip before each session. The anodized aluminum assembly withstands autoclaving at 134°C/2 bar and chemical disinfection with standard tattoo industry solutions; however, avoid strongly alkaline solutions, which can damage the anodization layer, and dry the part completely after cleaning.

Frequently asked questions

Which machines is this assembly compatible with?▾

It is designed for Hummingbird V1 and V2 rotary machines. As an original part, it mounts directly onto the body of these machines and meets factory tolerances.

What tube diameter does it accept?▾

Tubes with a standard outer diameter of 8mm, the most common format in the tattoo industry. Tubes with a significantly different diameter will not be secured properly, so check your grip's diameter beforehand.

Can it be sterilized?▾

Yes. The anodized aluminum assembly is compatible with autoclaving at 134°C/2 bar and chemical disinfection using standard tattoo industry solutions. Avoid strongly alkaline solutions, which can damage the anodization, and dry the part completely after each cycle.

How do I know when to replace the tube vice?▾

The main sign is loss of firm grip: the tube slips or rotates during work, even after tightening. Wear occurs from repeated tightening-loosening cycles, excessive force, residue, or corrosion, and a worn mechanism cannot be corrected by simply tightening.

Does it work with cartridge grips?▾

The assembly is designed for traditional 8mm tubes. Cartridge grips often have different diameters or shapes, so do not assume compatibility — check your grip's diameter against the 8mm standard before purchase.

Do I need special tools for installation?▾

No. A small Allen key is usually sufficient for securing the screws. It is important that the contact surfaces are clean and the tightening mechanism moves freely; then test the grip with an empty tube before use.

Product description

Tube vice assembly Hummingbird Compatible with Hummingbird V1 and V2 machines. The Tube Vice Assembly Hummingbird is the complete grip tube clamping mechanism assembly for Hummingbird rotary machines, the component that ensures firm and secure fixing of the tattoo tube onto the machine body. This precision assembly includes all necessary elements: the clamp body, tightening mechanism, pressure spring, and fixing elements. The Hummingbird improved tube vice system offers a significant advantage over conventional clamps — clamping is done quickly with a single motion and distributes pressure evenly around the circumference of the 8mm tube, preventing deformation of stainless steel or aluminum tubes. The tightening mechanism uses an eccentric or screw design that allows clamping force adjustment — firmer for aggressive work with large needles, more relaxed for fine configurations requiring frequent grip repositioning. Secure tube fixing is critical for safety: a tube that rotates or moves axially during tattooing can cause needle deviations, skin trauma, or loss of machine control. The Hummingbird tube vice assembly is designed for compatibility with standard 8mm diameter tubes — the most widespread in the tattoo industry. The assembly is manufactured from anodized aluminum alloy, being lightweight, corrosion-resistant, and compatible with all standard sterilization agents. The original replacement part guarantees the exact tolerances needed for secure clamping without play. Frequently Asked Questions
