This is a transparent, self-adhesive film dressing, of the "second skin" type, from Lohmann & Rauscher, used for the aftercare of a fresh tattoo (and micropigmentation procedures). It is applied over the treated area and forms a barrier that keeps away germs, water, and clothing friction, while allowing the skin to breathe and maintaining a moist environment that supports healing. The set contains 10 pre-cut sheets of 10x12 cm, individually packaged — practical both for the artist working at conventions or guest spots, and for the client continuing their aftercare at home. Being transparent, it allows checking the tattoo without removing it.
How is the healing film better than regular plastic wrap?▾
The 'second skin' type film is a breathable film: it allows the skin to release water vapor while maintaining a waterproof and microbe-proof barrier. This preserves a moist environment favorable for healing, without suffocating the skin. Regular cling film does not breathe, is only used for short transport, and is not intended for long-term tattoo aftercare.
How long should I keep the film on the tattoo?▾
A common protocol is: first sheet for approximately 24 hours (during which it collects plasma and excess ink), then, after cleaning, a second sheet for a few more days. The exact duration depends on the tattoo size, location, and the artist's recommendation — follow the instructions given at the end of the session.
Can I shower with the film on?▾
Yes. The film is waterproof, so a short shower is not a problem. However, avoid prolonged immersion — bathtub, pool, sauna — and strong water jet directly on the film, which could weaken the edges.
What size tattoo does a 10x12 cm sheet cover?▾
The sheet measures 10x12 cm, and if you keep about 2 cm of adhesive margin on healthy skin on each side, the remaining useful surface is suitable for small tattoos: wrist symbols, letters, constellations, minimalist designs on the ankle or behind the ear, as well as for micropigmentation areas (e.g., one eyebrow per sheet). For larger or irregularly shaped tattoos, a roll from which you cut to size may be more convenient.
Can a sheet be reused?▾
No. Each sheet is single-use and individually packaged precisely to keep the surface clean until application. Once removed and worn, the adhesive and barrier properties are no longer reliable, so you use a new sheet for each application.
Liquid collects under the film — is that normal?▾
Yes, in the first few hours it is normal for plasma and a little excess ink to collect; it's part of the healing process in a moist environment. It only becomes a problem if the liquid accumulates excessively and lifts the film — then you remove it, clean the area, dry it, and apply a new one.
