Guide & full description
Complete guide: Xtreme Ink Sepia Wash Set Marko Stamenkovic 6x30ml
This is a set of six 30 ml tattoo inks, developed by Xtreme Ink together with artist Marko Stamenkovic: five graded sepia tones plus Go2 Black for anchoring shadows. The idea behind the palette is to achieve warm, old-photography-style shadows instead of the typical coolness of a classic grey wash. It is aimed at artists who work on warm realistic portraits, vintage-style pieces, or simply want an already coordinated gradient without having to match shades from different manufacturers. The inks come pre-mixed, ready to use straight from the bottle, are vegan and compliant with European REACH regulations.
How to use
- Check each bottle before the session: legible label, cap closed, bottle undamaged. A bottle with signs of leakage or a compromised seal must not be used.
- Shake each bottle well before use. Even though the inks are pre-dispersed and ready to work, the pigment may settle during storage.
- Pour only the necessary amount into disposable ink caps — a separate cap for each shade and for each client. Never insert the needle or machine tip directly into the bottle.
- Arrange the caps in order of value, from Sepia Wash 1 to Sepia Wash 5 and then Go2 Black. This gives you the gradient in front of you and prevents you from picking the wrong shade in the middle of the work.
- Do a flow test on artificial skin using your machine, cartridge, and the voltage you will be working with, to see how each tone lays down before you start on a client.
- Build the work in layers: light tones for large areas and transitions, dark shades and Go2 Black at the end for contrast and anchoring shadows.
- Close the caps immediately after pouring and keep the bottles outside the contaminated work area, on a barrier-protected surface.
- At the end of the session, discard all remaining ink in the caps together with the rest of the disposable supplies. Do not pour it back into the bottle, no matter how much is left.
Tips from us
- Write down the 'recipe' for each work — which shades you used and in what order. In a graded palette, consistency between sessions matters more than a moment's inspired choice.
- Make a swatch on artificial skin with all six inks and keep it as a visual reference: in the cap, the sepia shades look much closer together than when applied.
- If you need an intermediate tone, mix between the inks in the set or with other colors from the Xtreme Ink range — the manufacturer indicates compatibility within the range.
- Store the set at room temperature, away from direct light and heat sources. A drawer or closed cabinet is sufficient.
- Monitor the level of the mid-tones — they are usually consumed first, and an incomplete gradient will ruin the logic of your palette.
- As a set, it gives you an already coordinated palette; it's especially useful if until now you were improvising warm tones by diluting a black.
Frequently asked questions
What exactly does the set contain?▾
Six 30 ml bottles: Sepia Wash 1, Sepia Wash 2, Sepia Wash 3, Sepia Wash 4, Sepia Wash 5, and Go2 Black. The five sepia shades form the warm gradient, and Go2 Black is used for anchoring shadows and final contrast. Each ink comes in its own bottle, pre-mixed and ready to use.
What tattoo styles is it suitable for?▾
It is designed for warm sepia-toned works: vintage-style pieces, warm portrait realism, and generally any composition where you want the depth of an old photograph instead of the coolness of a classic grey wash. If you predominantly work with cool black & grey, the palette will give a noticeably different result — it's worth testing on artificial skin before using it on a large work.
Can it be mixed with other inks?▾
The manufacturer indicates that the inks in the set can be mixed with other colors from the Xtreme Ink range, with compatibility within the range designed for stable mixtures. For intermediate shades, the safest option remains to mix between the inks in the set. If you combine with products from another manufacturer, test first on artificial skin — there is no guarantee of behavior between different ranges.
Does it work on any type of machine?▾
Yes, the inks are compatible with coil, rotary, and pen machines. The fluid consistency allows a constant flow through usual needle configurations. As with any new ink, do a few test passes with your usual setup to calibrate your speed and pressure.
How do I store them and work hygienically with them?▾
Keep the bottles at room temperature, away from direct light and excessive heat, with the caps tightly closed after each use. During a session, pour the ink into disposable caps, one for each shade and each client, and never insert the needle into the bottle. Any ink left in the caps is discarded at the end — it is not recovered or reused.
Are the inks vegan and compliant with European regulations?▾
Yes. Xtreme Ink declares the products to be vegan and cruelty-free, with no animal-derived ingredients and no animal testing, and the formulas comply with European REACH regulations applicable to tattoo inks. Always also check the label of the received bottle, which contains the official batch information.
