Guide & full description

Complete guide: Creion Biotek Smoked Brown 108

The Biotek Smoked Brown 108 pencil is a cosmetic pre-drawing tool used by micropigmentation artists to sketch the shape of eyebrows (or other contours) before the actual permanent makeup procedure. It is part of the range of 16 Biotek shades, made with the same pigments used later in the procedure — non-toxic, hypoallergenic, and nickel-free — so that the preparatory drawing visually matches the final result. Shade 108, a neutral 'smoky brown,' sits in the middle of the Biotek color spectrum, between blonde and intense brown tones, making it suitable for a wide range of hair and skin colors. It is designed for microblading and eyebrow micropigmentation artists who need a precise contouring tool during the client consultation phase.

How to use

Clean and disinfect the work area before starting the preparatory drawing, following your clinic's protocol.
Sharpen the pencil to a fine tip so that the lines are thin and precise.
Draw the desired contour directly on the skin, using symmetry landmarks to establish the final shape before the procedure.
Present the drawing to the client for validation and adjust the lines together before moving on to the micropigmentation step.
Correct or erase any mistakes with an oil-based makeup remover — the pencil's waxy formula wipes off easily without leaving persistent marks.
Proceed with the procedure as per your usual protocol — the formula withstands contact with anesthetic solutions and disinfectants used during work.
At the end, completely remove any pencil marks remaining outside the pigmented area, again using an oil-based makeup remover.
Store the pencil with the cap on, away from heat and moisture, for reuse at future appointments.

Tips from us

Choose shade 108 as a 'safe' option when you're unsure of the right tone — its neutral undertone adapts to most hair and skin combinations.
For areas like the lips, where the brown tone does not accurately reflect the final color (pink/red), consider another shade from the Biotek range designed for that type of procedure.
Sharpen the tip regularly — a dull tip reduces contour precision and unintentionally thickens the line.
If you work daily with PMU procedures, keep more than one pencil in stock so you don't run out of a pre-drawing tool in the middle of an appointment.
Draw on non-tanned skin, in its natural state, whenever possible — tan fades in the weeks after the procedure, and the final pigment must match the skin's natural tone.
Test on a small area if the client has a history of skin sensitivity, even though the formula is described as hypoallergenic.

Warning: The pencil is applied directly to the client's skin, so the area must be cleaned and disinfected before each use, following the clinic's protocol. Do not use on skin with lesions, irritations, or active infections. The formula is described as hypoallergenic and nickel-free, but individual sensitivity may occur — check the client's tolerance before the procedure. It is important to remember that this is a temporary marking tool for the pre-drawing phase, not an actual permanent makeup product.

Frequently asked questions

What exactly is the Biotek Smoked Brown 108 pencil and what is it used for?▾

It is a cosmetic pre-drawing pencil, not a permanent makeup pigment. It is used to sketch the shape of eyebrows (or any desired contour) on the skin before the micropigmentation procedure, so that the shape is established and approved by the client before moving on to the final stage.

What hair and skin color best suits shade 108?▾

108 Smoked Brown is a smoky brown with a neutral-cool undertone, positioned in the middle of the Biotek color spectrum, between blonde and intense brown tones. It is especially suitable for clients with light brown hair, dark blonde hair, or neutral skin — a versatile choice when you are unsure of the exact shade.

Can it be used on lips as well, or only for eyebrows?▾

It works very well for eyebrows and as a guide line for eyeliner. For lips it is not ideal, as the smoky brown tone does not accurately represent the pinks and reds specific to lip blush procedures — for lips, a shade from the Biotek range dedicated to that type of procedure is recommended.

How do I remove or correct the drawing if I make a mistake on a line?▾

The pencil's waxy formula is easily removed with an oil-based makeup remover, without leaving persistent marks and without interfering with the absorption of the pigment applied later. You can correct the lines on the spot before starting the procedure.

Does the pencil need to be disinfected between clients?▾

As it is a tool that comes into direct contact with the skin, it is recommended to sanitize the tip before each use (for example by sharpening, which exposes a new surface) and to follow your clinic's hygiene protocol, just like any other tool used on the skin during the consultation phase.

Is it safe for clients with sensitive skin?▾

The formula is described by the manufacturer as hypoallergenic and nickel-free, specifically designed for pre-procedure cosmetic use. However, any skin sensitivity is individual, so we recommend a patch test on a small area before drawing on a larger surface, especially for clients with a history of allergic reactions.

Product description

They are the first cosmetic pencils specially designed for the preparatory drawing of permanent makeup. Compatible with permanent makeup, they are made with the same safe and non-toxic, hypoallergenic and nickel-free Biotek pigments. The 16 shades are exactly like the Biotek pigment range and can be used with maximum safety in the pre-procedure consultation phase. The Biotek Smoked Brown 108 pencil is the professional pre-drawing instrument for permanent micropigmentation manufactured by Biotek Italy, in a neutral smokey brown shade — the most versatile in the entire range. Code 108 positions itself exactly in the middle of the Biotek color spectrum, between blonde tones (106-107) and intense browns (109), functioning as a universal shade for a wide range of skin and hair tones. The smokey brown has a neutral-cool undertone that pulls neither gray nor golden, making it suitable for clients with light brown, dark blonde, or brunette hair with neutral skin tones. The medium-firm waxy formula is optimized for precise lines: the sharpened tip maintains definition on the skin surface without widening or yielding under pressure, and resistance to anesthetic solutions and disinfectants used in PMU procedures is excellent. Smoked Brown 108 is the best-selling pencil in the Biotek range across Europe — it is estimated that over 40% of PMU procedures use this shade in the pre-drawing phase. It is the first choice for artists predominantly working with brown-haired clients, the most common hair color in Southern and Eastern Europe. The pencil does not interfere with pigment absorption, does not contaminate the work area, and removes easily with oil-based makeup remover. Manufactured in Italy, dermatologically tested, CE 1223/2009 compliant. Essential instrument in the professional PMU kit. Frequently Asked Questions
