Guide & full description

Complete guide: Inkjet Printer ink for CISS 120ml Stencils

This is the refill ink for digital stencil printing systems — a modern alternative to classic thermal transfer on carbon paper. It is poured into a continuous ink supply (CISS) inkjet printer dedicated exclusively to printing stencils, and the resulting design is transferred to the skin with the help of a compatible preparation spray, because it is a carbon-free system. The 120 ml bottle is aimed at artists and studios who want a digital workflow: clean outline, faithful details, and low cost per stencil compared to the carbon paper method.

How to use

  1. Shake the bottle well before use (about 30 seconds) so that the pigment is uniform.
  2. Open the reservoir of the CISS printer dedicated to stencils and pour the ink slowly, without exceeding the MAX mark. If the printer has multiple reservoirs, distribute the ink among all of them — none should remain empty at startup, otherwise air pockets may appear.
  3. After filling, keep the printer in an upright position and do not tilt it, to avoid air in the system.
  4. Run 1-2 print head cleaning cycles and a test page before the first real stencil.
  5. Print the design on inkjet stencil paper (not on regular paper).
  6. Prepare and clean the skin area, then apply the compatible preparation spray — in a carbon-free system, the spray is what fixes and transfers the ink onto the skin.
  7. Place the paper with the design on the prepared area, press evenly for a few seconds, then lift it carefully and let the stencil dry completely before starting the tattoo.

Tips from us

  • Use the printer ONLY for stencils, with this formula. Regular office ink or toner has no place in the system and can be toxic in the context of tattooing.
  • Do not leave the printer unused for long periods — the inkjet head can dry out. Print periodically or run a maintenance cycle to keep the nozzles clean.
  • Store the bottle and system at room temperature, away from direct sunlight.
  • Do not mix with other types of ink — you can compromise both the line quality and the print head.
  • Have the other consumables in the workflow ready in advance: inkjet stencil paper and compatible preparation spray. Without them, the digital transfer does not work fully.
  • When filling a multi-reservoir system for the first time, more than one bottle may be needed; afterwards, refill only when the level drops, without letting any reservoir become completely empty.
Warning: This is a professional consumable for stencil transfer, not an injection pigment — it should never be used as tattoo ink. Work on clean, prepared skin, use protective barriers and disposable items where applicable, and discard any paper or materials that come into contact with the skin after a single use. If irritation occurs upon skin contact, stop and rinse the area. Keep out of reach of children.

Frequently asked questions

What printer does this ink work with?

It is designed for continuous ink supply (CISS) inkjet printers dedicated to stencil printing, the Epson Eco Tank range being the one recommended by the manufacturer. Before purchasing, check if your printer model is compatible with this type of ink and reserve the printer exclusively for stencils — do not use it as a studio multifunction printer.

Why do I absolutely need the preparation spray?

Because this is a carbon-free system. Unlike thermal paper, here the printed ink does not fix itself onto the skin: the preparation spray applied to the clean area is what picks up the design from the paper and fixes it onto the skin. Without it, the stencil will not remain clear throughout the session.

Do I need to use a special paper?

Yes. Inkjet stencil paper is used. Regular paper does not hold fine lines correctly and does not transfer the design cleanly onto the skin, so the result would be blurry.

Can I print color stencils or only in one color?

Stencil printing is monochrome. All printer reservoirs are filled with the same stencil ink, and the classic transfer color is purple/violet, precisely for good visibility on the skin. You do not treat the printer like a regular color photo printer — its role is strictly to output the stencil outline.

How do I maintain the ink and printer to prevent drying out?

Shake the bottle before each refill, keep the ink at room temperature, and do not mix it with other types. Keep the printer upright, do not let the reservoirs empty completely, and periodically run a maintenance cycle or a test page if you haven't printed in a while, to keep the nozzles clear.

Is it more cost-effective than carbon paper?

The digital inkjet method reduces the cost per printed page compared to classic carbon paper stencils, and a 120 ml bottle covers a large number of stencils. The actual yield, however, depends on the design size and how much ink each stencil uses, so the exact number varies from studio to studio.

Product description

Inkjet Stencils for CISS Say goodbye to carbon thermal printing! You will be amazed at the quality of your stencils using the Ink Jet system and also how much you will reduce your weekly/monthly running costs. The patented 120ml Ink Jet printer ink, which can only be used with the EPSON Eco Tank range of printers, but Epson does not own this ink. Make sure you also buy the 240ml Ink Jet Stencil Prep Spray and Inkjet Stencil Paper. Combined with an EPSON Eco Tank printer, the 4 products go hand in hand to produce insanely crisp, clear, precise and easy to work stencils. Each 120ml bottle will produce approximately 3,000 stencils! Inkjet stencils are less than half the price per printed page compared to traditional carbon paper stencils.2 120ml bottles are enough to fill the ink tanks, although 1 is enough to work. Ink Jet stencils only work with the Epson Eco Tank range of printers. This is a carbonless system, so the use of Ink Jet Stencil Spray is vital to transfer the ink from the tracing paper to the client's skin. Once the cartridge has been inserted into the printer, it must remain in a vertical position. Failure to do so will result in air pockets that will prevent the printer from operating. If the printer model used has several ink tanks, the 120ml bottle must be dispersed over all, no tank can be empty at the beginning of the process. Since the tanks are emptied during use, it is not necessary to top up until the last tank is empty. Users should not treat this device as a multifunctional printer in the studio. The printer should only be used for printing templates using the Inkjet formula. Common printer ink and toner can be toxic. The Stencil Prep spray actively balances the skin to the point where it is PH neutral. This is something that very few template preparation solutions do, this is important because achieving neutrality means that the template will require a lot of effort to remove. Ink Jet Stencils CISS Printer Ink 120ml is the professional alternative ink for digital stencil printing systems, specifically designed for use in inkjet printers with continuous ink supply (CISS). The Ink Jet Stencils brand specializes exclusively in digital stencil transfer products, bringing to market an ink with a unique formula optimized for maximum precision of fine lines and micro-details. The high-density violet-blue pigments produce stencils with excellent contrast on transfer paper, and after skin application (with compatible prep spray), lines remain visible and clear throughout the entire tattooing session. The ink viscosity is calibrated to prevent printhead drying during idle periods, a common problem with high pigment concentration inks. The water-based formula is dermatologically safe, with no industrial solvents, no heavy metals, no irritating substances. Universal compatibility with popular CISS printers: Epson Eco Tank L3150, L3250, L3260, ET-2720, ET-2800, Canon PIXMA G2010, G3010, G3020. The 120 ml bottle provides approximately 300-500 A4-format stencils. Ink Jet Stencils Ink differentiates from Electrum through its ability to reproduce finer lines at high resolutions (1200+ DPI), a significant advantage for artists working micro-realism, geometric, or ornamental styles with subpixel details. Shake the bottle before filling the reservoir. Store at room temperature. Do not mix with other ink types. The product comes with usage instructions and is lot-traceable for professional compliance.
