Guide & full description

Complete guide: DERMALIZE TOTAL BLACK SUN BLOCK ROLL 15 cm X 10 m

Dermalize Total Black Sun Block is a protective film for tattoo healing, with a completely opaque black layer that blocks UV radiation. It is designed for the warm season or any situation where exposure of the freshly tattooed area to the sun cannot be avoided — from artists who frequently work on exposed areas (forearms, calves, neck, hands) to clients who travel or work outdoors shortly after the tattoo session. The 15 cm x 10 m roll is made of medical polyurethane, like the rest of the Dermalize range, and maintains oxygen and water vapor permeability, hypoallergenic adhesive, and water resistance.

How to use

  1. Clean and thoroughly dry the tattooed area before application.
  2. Cut a piece of film from the roll to the size of the tattoo, leaving a 2-3 cm margin around.
  3. Remove the protective backing from the adhesive side of the film.
  4. Apply the film from one end to the other, smoothing with your hand to remove air bubbles.
  5. Remove the top protective sheet after the film is fully adhered.
  6. Since it is opaque, the film does not allow viewing the tattoo through it — make sure the positioning is correct from the first application.
  7. Follow the film change schedule recommended by the artist who performed the tattoo, checking the skin condition at each change.

Tips from us

  • Choose Total Black instead of the transparent version especially in summer or whenever the tattooed area will be directly exposed to the sun.
  • Periodically check the edges of the film — if they lift or detach, the protection and sealing of the area decrease.
  • In intense and prolonged sun exposure, the black color can absorb more heat than the transparent version; for additional thermal comfort, cover the area with a layer of clothing.
  • The black color is integrated into the material and does not transfer to clothing, but normal exudate under the film (plasma and a little ink) can stain fabrics if the edges lift or the film is removed prematurely.
  • The 10 m roll allows cutting to the appropriate size for multiple applications, not just for a single tattoo.
Warning: Apply the film only on clean, dry skin. Being opaque, you will not be able to visually monitor the tattoo while it is applied — checks are only done when changing the film. If you notice lifted edges, signs of irritation, excessive redness, or adhesive reaction, discuss with the tattoo artist about changing or removing the film. The product only covers the area it is applied to and does not replace the care instructions given by the artist.

Frequently asked questions

What is the difference between Dermalize Total Black and Dermalize Pro?

Total Black adds an opaque black layer that blocks UV radiation, unlike Dermalize Pro, which is transparent and does not offer sun protection. Otherwise, both are made of medical polyurethane, permeable to oxygen and water vapor, with hypoallergenic adhesive and water resistant. Choose Total Black when sun exposure during the healing period is unavoidable.

Can I see the tattoo through the film while it is applied?

No — being completely opaque, the Total Black film does not allow viewing the tattoo while it is on the skin. It is a consequence of the design, intended for total UV protection. The skin condition is only checked when changing the film, according to the schedule set by the artist, so when applying, make sure you position it correctly on the first try.

When is Total Black recommended over the transparent version?

It is recommended in the warm season or whenever you cannot avoid sun exposure — for example, for tattoos on frequently exposed areas (forearms, calves, neck, hands) or if you will be exposed to the sun shortly after the tattoo session.

What do I do if the edges of the film lift or detach?

Lifted or detached edges mean the adhesive no longer seals the area well, increasing the risk of staining clothes or contamination. Discuss with the tattoo artist about changing the film earlier than scheduled, instead of a damaged film; the new film is applied on clean, dry skin, according to the application steps.

Does the black color of the film stain clothes or bedding?

No — the black pigment is integrated into the structure of the polyurethane material and does not transfer to textiles. However, just like with the transparent versions, normal exudate under the film (plasma and a little ink) can stain clothes if the edges lift or the film is removed prematurely.

Does it offer protection against both UVA and UVB?

Yes, the opaque layer blocks both UVA and UVB radiation. However, protection is limited to the area covered by the film — for the rest of the skin exposed to the sun, the usual sun protection methods remain valid.

Product description

DERMALIZE TOTAL BLACK SUN BLOCK Protective Tattoo Film (15cm x 10mt): the ultimate solution to protect your tattoo art also in summer. An efficient barrier to UVA and UVB rays penetration. Dermalize Total Black Sun Block Roll 15 cm x 10 m is the revolutionary opaque protective film designed for tattoo healing with total protection against ultraviolet rays. This unique product on the market combines Dermalize's proven wet wrapping technology with a completely opaque layer that blocks 100% of solar radiation, protecting freshly implanted pigment from degradation caused by UV exposure. The black medical polyurethane material maintains all the technical properties of the Dermalize range: optimal oxygen and water vapor permeability, hypoallergenic adhesive, and water resistance. Total Black is the ideal solution for clients who get tattooed during warm seasons or who cannot avoid sun exposure during the healing period. UV protection is critical in the first days after tattooing, when pigment is most vulnerable to fading and degradation under ultraviolet rays. The 10-meter roll offers the same cutting flexibility as other Dermalize variants, allowing adaptation to any tattoo size. Manufactured in Italy according to the highest European standards for medical devices, Total Black Sun Block adds an additional level of protection without compromising the healing process. Artists in sunny climate regions or those frequently working on sun-exposed areas consider this product indispensable in their professional aftercare arsenal. Frequently Asked Questions What makes Dermalize Total Black different from Dermalize Pro? Dermalize Total Black adds complete UV protection thanks to its opaque black layer that blocks 100% of solar radiation. Dermalize Pro is transparent and does not offer UV protection. Otherwise, both products share the same properties: medical polyurethane, oxygen permeability, hypoallergenic adhesive, and water resistance. Choose Total Black when sun exposure is unavoidable. Can I see the tattoo through Dermalize Total Black? No, the Total Black film is completely opaque and does not allow viewing the tattoo through it. This is an intentional design consequence that ensures total UV protection. To monitor the healing process, the film must be removed. If you want to check the tattoo's condition, do so when changing the film according to the artist's recommended schedule. When is it most advisable to use Total Black instead of Pro? Total Black is recommended during summer or whenever the client cannot avoid sun exposure. It is ideal for tattoos on frequently exposed areas such as forearms, shins, neck, or hands. It is also the optimal choice for clients who work outdoors or travel to sunny destinations shortly after the tattoo session. Can the black color of the film stain clothing? No, the black color is integrated into the polyurethane material structure and does not transfer to clothing or bedding. The film is chromatically stable and does not release pigment. However, normal exudate under the film (plasma and ink) can stain clothing if the film is removed or if edges lift, just as with transparent variants. Does Total Black absorb more heat than the transparent variant? The black color may absorb more heat during direct and prolonged sun exposure, but due to the extremely thin film thickness, the temperature difference at skin level is minimal. In situations of intense and prolonged sun exposure, also cover the area with a layer of clothing over the film for optimal thermal comfort and additional protection. Does the Total Black film protect against both UVA and UVB rays? Yes, the opaque layer of Dermalize Total Black blocks both UVA and UVB radiation. UVA rays are responsible for premature skin aging and pigment fading, while UVB rays cause sunburn. Complete protection against both types of radiation is essential for preserving pigment integrity during the critical healing period. How do you correctly apply Dermalize Total Black? Application is identical to Dermalize Pro: clean and dry the tattooed area, cut the film to the required size with 2-3 cm margin, remove the backing, apply from one end smoothing to eliminate air bubbles, then remove the top layer. Since the film is opaque, ensure correct positioning from the start, as you will not be able to see the tattoo through the film. Is Dermalize Total Black more expensive than Pro? Dermalize Total Black is slightly more expensive than Dermalize Pro due to the additional UV-blocking technology incorporated into the polyurethane material. The price difference is justified by the additional UV protection that can prevent pigment fading and the need for subsequent touch-ups. For tattoos on sun-exposed areas, the additional investment is fully justified. Can I use Total Black in winter too? Yes, Total Black can be used in any season. Even in winter, UV rays are present and can affect tattooed skin, especially in snowy areas that reflect solar radiation or at high altitudes. Total Black usage is not limited to warm seasons, although maximum benefit is achieved during periods of increased sun exposure. Is Dermalize Total Black also available in individual sachet format? Dermalize Total Black is primarily available in roll format for professional studio use. For pre-cut variants or smaller formats, check availability on tatuat.ro or contact the supplier. The 10-meter roll is the most economical and flexible format, allowing cutting to any size needed for each individual client.
