Why paper Leucoplast and not plastic Leucoplast for tattoos?▾
Microporous paper has three advantages for a fresh tattoo: it is breathable (allows moisture to evaporate from under the dressing, preventing skin maceration), it removes gently (does not pull off fragile scabs) and has a milder adhesive, suitable for sensitive skin. Plastic Leucoplast is waterproof and adheres more aggressively, which can irritate the tattooed skin.
Does it tear without scissors?▾
Yes. The paper tears easily and straight by hand, so you can quickly detach the desired piece directly from the roll, without scissors. It is a practical advantage especially when working with gloves.
Does it adhere well, including on oily or sweaty skin?▾
The hypoallergenic adhesive provides sufficient adhesion for fixing compresses, but intentionally milder than that of plastic Leucoplast — precisely so that removal does not traumatize the skin. On oily or sweaty skin, adhesion decreases; clean and dry the area well before application to fix the tape correctly.
Is it latex-free? (important for allergic clients)▾
Medical paper Leucoplast is usually latex-free, the adhesive being based on acrylate or synthetic rubber, not natural latex. Even so, always check the marking on the packaging and include in the consent form a question about allergy to latex and adhesives, before application.
How do I remove the tape without traumatizing the tattoo?▾
Moisten the edges of the tape with warm water for 1-2 minutes to soften the adhesive, then pull slowly, almost parallel to the skin (toward the tape itself), not perpendicular. Do not pull abruptly, so as not to lift the fragile scabs of the fresh tattoo.
What width do I choose and how much material do I need per dressing?▾
The width of 2.5 cm is the standard size for fixing the edges of compresses — wide enough for secure adhesion, but narrow enough not to cover skin unnecessarily. For one compress, fix one piece on each side, on healthy skin; for large compresses, add additional pieces on the sides. For larger areas or stronger adhesion, you can combine with transparent protective film.
