Guide & full description

Complete guide: Elastic Bandage Fixation Mesh 6cm x 1m

This elastic mesh holds the dressing in place on the skin without the need for adhesive tape — a simple solution when adhesive irritates the skin or does not adhere well to moving body parts. With a width of 6 cm, it is designed for areas like calves, thighs, or biceps, where a classic dressing easily slips. It conforms to the body without restricting movement, so it is useful both for artists dressing their clients' fresh tattoos and for clients at home during the healing period.

How to use

  1. Wash your hands thoroughly (or put on gloves if working in a studio) before touching the dressing and mesh.
  2. First apply the healing dressing to the tattooed area, according to the dressing's recommendations — the mesh only holds it in place, it does not replace it.
  3. Cut a piece from the roll to the appropriate length: the mesh can be cut to any length, and the roll is 1 m total. Leave a few extra centimeters compared to the dressing.
  4. Stretch the mesh with both hands and pull it over the limb, like a sleeve, until it reaches the dressed area.
  5. Position it so that it completely covers the dressing, without creases or rolled edges.
  6. Check the tension: the mesh should hold the dressing, not constrict. If it leaves deep marks or you feel numbness or tingling, remove it and reapply more loosely.
  7. At each dressing change, discard the used mesh — it is a single-use product.

Tips from us

  • Choose the correct size for the area you are dressing: a well-fitting mesh minimizes circulation issues. The 6 cm version is recommended for calves, thighs, and biceps.
  • Cut the piece a few centimeters longer than the dressing so that the edges do not curl during movement.
  • It is a good alternative to adhesive tape for clients with sensitive skin or hair on the dressed area, where removing the tape is unpleasant.
  • It pairs well with Unistar Skin Care tattoo healing dressings, so you can offer them together to the client in the aftercare kit.
  • Do not overlap multiple layers of tightly stretched mesh on the same area — each layer adds compression.
  • Keep a roll at the work station: being easy to apply and cut to the desired length, it shortens the final dressing of the session.
Warning: Single-use product: do not reuse the mesh between clients and do not wash it for reuse — after each dressing change, discard it. The mesh is only applied over the dressing, never directly on the fresh tattoo or on damaged skin. If numbness, tingling, skin discoloration, or swelling of the area under the mesh occurs, remove it immediately and reapply a looser one or a more appropriate size. Always follow the artist's instructions for tattoo healing.

Frequently asked questions

Can I reuse the mesh if I wash it?

No. It is a single-use product: with each dressing change, the old mesh is discarded and a new one is applied. Reusing it — especially on a fresh tattoo, which is essentially an open wound — means a risk of contamination, and after use the mesh loses its elasticity anyway and no longer holds as well.

What dressings does it work with? Do I need something specific?

The mesh holds the dressing in place mechanically, through elasticity, so it works with classic dressings that would otherwise require adhesive tape. It fits very well with Unistar Skin Care tattoo healing dressings. It is not necessary for self-adhesive healing foils, which stick to the skin on their own — there you can use it at most as extra protection over the foil.

For which body areas is the 6 cm width suitable?

The 6 cm version is designed for areas like calves, thighs, or biceps — i.e., limbs where the mesh is pulled on like a sleeve and stays in place. It's important that the mesh sits loosely stretched over the area: if you have to force it a lot to fit, you need a larger size, otherwise it can affect circulation.

How tight should the mesh be on the leg or arm?

Firm enough that the dressing doesn't slide, but without constricting. The mesh conforms to the body and should not restrict movement. Signs that it is too tight: deep marks on the skin, numbness, tingling, or discoloration of the area. In that case, remove it and put on a new piece, applied more loosely.

Can I cut the mesh to the size I need?

Yes, the mesh can be cut to any length, and the roll is 1 m. Basically, you cut exactly what you need for the dressed area — usually a few centimeters longer than the dressing length, to cover it completely and prevent the edges from curling.

Does the mesh replace the tattoo healing dressing or foil?

No. The mesh is not a dressing — it just holds the dressing in place without adhesive tape. On the fresh tattoo, apply the healing dressing recommended by the artist first, and the mesh goes on top as a fixation layer. Never apply it directly to freshly tattooed skin.
