Guide & full description

Complete guide: 0.75 Litre Plastic Sharps Container for Needles and Cutting Waste

A single-use container for the safe collection of sharps and cutting waste — needles, blades, used cartridges and other similar tools. It is made of injected polypropylene, in the standard yellow color for hazardous waste, with puncture-resistant and leak-proof walls, and is certified according to ADR regulations for the transport of hazardous waste. With a capacity of 0.75 liters and a compact rectangular format, it is suitable for the work station in a tattoo studio, office, clinic or laboratory, anywhere disposable sharp instruments are used.

How to use

  1. Assemble the container before first use: attach the detachable lid to the body and place it on a stable surface, as close as possible to the area where you generate waste.
  2. Insert sharps (needles, blades, needle cartridges) through the special openings in the lid immediately after use, without recapping the needles and without disassembling them beforehand.
  3. Between work sessions, use the temporary closure — achieved by a light press — to limit access to the contents and the risk of accidental tipping.
  4. Do not exceed the fill limit: the maximum allowed content weight is 0.4 kg, and the container should not be filled to the brim.
  5. When the container is full, activate the permanent closure: lock the flap into the special slot until fully closed. After this step, the container cannot be reopened.
  6. Label the closed container (date of closure, origin) according to your internal waste management procedure.
  7. Hand over the permanently closed container to an authorized hazardous medical waste collection operator — never throw it in household trash.

Tips from us

  • Position the container as close as possible to the workspace, so that the used needle travels the shortest possible distance to disposal — this reduces the risk of accidental needlestick injury.
  • Do not force or cram waste into the container and never insert your hand through the lid openings.
  • The compact rectangular format (approximately 115 × 70 × 140 mm) uses space efficiently, so it fits next to the workstation without getting in the way.
  • Use the temporary closure throughout the day and the permanent closure only when the container is full — the permanent one is irreversible.
  • If you consistently generate a large volume of sharps, keep several containers in stock: when full, the container is replaced, not emptied.
  • Visually check at each use that the fill level leaves the waste below the area of the lid openings; if it gets close, it's time for permanent closure.
Warning: Sharps waste is hazardous waste: do not throw it in household trash and never transfer the contents from one container to another. Do not recap used needles before disposal — recapping is one of the most common causes of accidental needlestick injuries. The container is non-sterile, single-use and non-reusable: after permanent closure, do not attempt to reopen it. For disposal, hand it over exclusively to an authorized hazardous medical waste operator.

Frequently asked questions

Can I use this container in a tattoo studio or is it only for hospitals and clinics?

The container is intended for the collection of medical sharps and cutting waste — needles, blades, catheters and similar instruments — in medical facilities, laboratories and offices. Tattoo studios generate exactly the same type of waste (needles, needle cartridges, disposable blades), and collecting them in a dedicated, puncture-resistant container is the standard hygiene and safety practice in the field. So it is a suitable choice for a tattoo artist's workstation.

How much can I fill it?

The nominal capacity is 0.75 liters, with a usable volume between 0.60 and 0.74 liters, and the maximum allowed content weight is 0.4 kg. As a general safety rule, do not fill the container to the brim and do not cram waste: when the level approaches the lid openings, close it permanently and move to a new container.

What is the difference between temporary closure and permanent closure?

Temporary closure is achieved by a light press on the lid and is used between sessions, while the container is in use — it limits access to the contents but still allows waste to be inserted through the openings. Permanent closure is done by locking the flap into the special slot until fully closed, and is irreversible: you activate it only when the container is full, before handing it over for disposal.

What do I do with the container after it's full? Can I throw it in the trash?

No. Sharps are hazardous waste and must be handed over to an authorized medical waste collection operator under contract — this is the standard legal practice for studios and offices. The container is certified according to ADR regulations for the transport of hazardous waste, so once permanently closed, it can be picked up and safely transported by the collection company.

Can I empty the container and reuse it to save money?

No. It is a single-use, non-sterile and non-reusable packaging, and the permanent closure system is designed precisely so that the container cannot be opened after filling. Emptying or reopening would mean direct handling of contaminated waste — a serious risk of needlestick injury and infection. When full, the container is handed over whole and replaced with a new one.

What are its dimensions and does it fit on the work table?

The body has a rectangular cross-section, with a length of 115 mm, width of 70 mm and height of 140 mm (with tolerances of a few millimeters), so it takes up little space and can sit directly on the workstation or on a procedure cart. The rectangular shape was chosen precisely for efficient space utilization, and the rigid construction with rounded edges gives it stability during handling.
