Guide & full description

Complete guide: Top Classic Thermal Paper

This pack contains 100 A4 sheets of Spirit thermal transfer paper, the material used to prepare the stencil (template) for a tattoo before starting work on the skin. It is designed for studios and artists with a steady workload who need a guaranteed stock and a better price per sheet than buying individually. The paper works in two ways: through a thermal printer or by manual tracing, and the resulting transfer is a highly visible violet color.

How to use

Choose your working method: thermal printer (for digital designs) or manual tracing (for freehand drawing). The sheet has four layers — the top tracing sheet, the middle protective sheet, the carbon support sheet, and the yellow sheet that holds the original in place.
For the printer: insert the sheet into the thermal printer following the correct orientation. Thermal printers do not use ink — the image is formed by heat, and the carbon layer transfers it onto the top sheet in violet.
For manual tracing: place the original under the yellow fixing sheet and trace the outline with firm pressure; the pressure transfers the violet carbon onto the top sheet.
Peel off the top tracing sheet, which now has your finished violet stencil.
Prepare the client's skin: shave the area, clean it, and apply a stencil fixing product (gel or transfer solution).
Place the stencil sheet onto the skin, press evenly, and hold for a few seconds without sliding sideways.
Carefully lift the sheet and check the clarity of the violet outline before starting the tattoo.
Use a new sheet for each stencil and each client.

Tips from us

Store the pack flat, in a cool, dry place away from heat, moisture, and direct light — the carbon layer is sensitive, and proper storage preserves clarity down to the last sheet.
Do not touch the transfer surface with your fingers; skin oils and moisture can affect line sharpness.
On a thermal printer, check the sheet orientation with a short test before a major design to avoid wasting sheets.
Keep track of your usage and order a new pack in advance so you don't run out of stock in the middle of an appointment.
For fine outlines, make sure the area is clean and well-degreased — a clear stencil depends largely on skin preparation.

Warning: Transfer paper and stencils are single-use per client — do not reuse the same sheet between individuals to avoid cross-contamination. The manufacturer describes the material as safe for most skin types and vegan-friendly, but for clients with sensitive or reactive skin, you can test on a small area. The stencil is applied to intact, clean skin — not on an open wound.

Frequently asked questions

Which printers is the paper compatible with?▾

Spirit paper is compatible with all thermal printers (thermal copiers) used for tattoo stencils — for example, the Brother PJ series. It does not need ink: the image is formed by heat and the carbon layer. If you don't have a thermal printer, the same sheet can also be used manually, by tracing.

What is the difference from the Spirit sheet bought individually?▾

It is exactly the same product — the same four layers and the same transfer quality — only packaged in a pack of 100 sheets. The advantage of the pack is a lower price per sheet and a guaranteed stock for several weeks; the disadvantage is the larger initial investment. For an artist who works frequently, the pack is the logical choice; for someone just testing the paper, individual purchase may be more prudent at first.

Is it used with a printer or manually?▾

Both. The carbon layer transfers the image onto the top sheet either when the sheet passes through a thermal printer (for digital designs) or when you trace the outline manually, pressing firmly over the original placed under the yellow fixing sheet. The result is the same highly visible violet stencil.

How do I store the pack so it doesn't degrade?▾

Keep the sheets flat, in a cool, dry place away from direct heat, moisture, and sunlight. The carbon layer is sensitive to temperature and humidity, and proper storage preserves transfer quality down to the last sheet. Avoid touching the transfer surface with your fingers.

Can it be used on any type of skin?▾

The manufacturer describes the paper as vegan-friendly and safe for most skin types. As with any stencil, prepare the area (shaved, clean, degreased) and, if the client has sensitive skin, you can test on a small area. The stencil is applied to intact skin, not on a wound.

Is it suitable for beginners?▾

The paper itself is easy to use, both with a printer and manually. However, the pack of 100 sheets is more of a purchase for someone who already knows they will be working consistently. A beginner who is still testing the transfer technique may prefer a smaller quantity at first and switch to the pack after confirming that Spirit is their choice.
