Guide & full description

Complete guide: Top Spirit Tattoo Thermal Paper 37cm*21.5cm

Spirit long format thermal transfer sheets are the stencil paper on which you reproduce the outline of a design before tattooing it. The 37 x 21.5 cm format and the box of 100 pieces are designed for artists and studios that frequently work with large designs — sleeves, back pieces, panels — where a standard A4 sheet is not enough. They work in two ways: with a thermal stencil printer or manually, by tracing.

How to use

Prepare the design: for a thermal printer, send the image to the printer; for manual tracing, place the original drawing underneath at the correct position relative to the sheet.
Orient the sheet correctly — the carbon layer toward the source creating the outline (the print head for thermal, or under the top tracing sheet for manual).
On the printer, set the paper size to "custom" at the sheet format (approximately 215 x 370 mm) and feed it manually, one sheet at a time.
For manual tracing, trace firmly over the outline with a pen; the pressure transfers the carbon pigment onto the top sheet.
Peel off the top tracing sheet — on it you will have the violet outline ready to apply.
Prepare the skin: clean it, shave the area if needed, and apply a transfer solution/gel for a clear and durable stencil.
Place the sheet with the outline on the skin, press evenly for a few seconds, then lift it straight up carefully.
Let the stencil dry completely before starting the tattoo.

Tips from us

Store the box horizontally, in a cool and dry place, away from direct light, heat, and humidity — the wax-based pigment is sensitive to pressure and temperature.
Do not stack heavy objects on top of the pack: pressure can mark the sheets before use.
Use the long format for designs that exceed A4 on at least one side; for small and medium pieces, an A4 sheet is more economical to avoid wasting surface area.
Test the sheet orientation on a single sheet before a long print run — a sheet placed upside down will not transfer.
If you have multiple boxes in stock, consume the oldest ones first (FIFO).

Warning: The stencil is applied to skin that will be tattooed, so work cleanly: clean and, if necessary, shave the area beforehand, wear gloves, and keep the work surface disinfected. Do not reuse the same portion of sheet between clients. The pigment is described as vegan-friendly and safe for most skin types; if a client has reactive skin or known allergies, do a patch test on a small area and stop at any irritation.

Frequently asked questions

Which printers do Spirit sheets work with?▾

They are compatible with thermal stencil printers — for example, the industry-standard Brother PocketJet series. In the driver, set the paper size to "custom" (approximately 215 x 370 mm for the long format) and feed the sheet manually, oriented with the thermal layer facing the print head.

When should I choose the long format 37 x 21.5 cm over A4?▾

Choose the long format for large designs that exceed A4 on at least one side — full sleeves, back pieces, side panels — to avoid joining multiple sheets. For small and medium pieces, an A4 sheet remains a more suitable and economical choice.

Can I use the sheets without a printer, manually?▾

Yes, they are designed for both modes. For manual tracing, place the original drawing under the sheet and trace firmly over the outline; the pressure transfers the pigment from the carbon sheet onto the top tracing sheet, just like the thermal method.

How many sheets are in the box and what size are they?▾

A pack contains 100 sheets in the long format 37 x 21.5 cm. The displayed price is for an entire box (one pack), not for a single sheet.

How do I store the sheets to make them last?▾

Store the pack horizontally, in a cool and dry place, away from direct light, humidity, and pressure. Do not place heavy objects on top and seal the packaging well after opening to protect the pigment.

What is the structure of the sheet?▾

Each sheet has four layers: the top tracing sheet, on which the transferred image appears; a protective sheet in the middle; the carbon backing sheet, which transfers the pigment onto the top sheet; and a yellow sheet, which holds the original in place when working with a copier. The violet, wax-based pigment offers high visibility on the skin.
