Guide & full description

Complete guide: Cheyenne Capillary Cartridge Needle MAGNUM SOFT EDGE (RM)

This is a needle cartridge in Magnum Soft Edge (Round Magnum) configuration from the Cheyenne Capillary range, designed for fine shading, gradients, and color filling on surfaces. The capillary technology in the tip — a reservoir capillary — retains, according to the manufacturer, up to 10 times more ink than conventional cartridges and distributes it evenly across all needles, even in large magnum configurations. It is a sterile, single-use consumable, suitable both for artists working with realism and soft shading, and for those filling color surfaces who want a constant ink flow. The displayed price is per piece.

How to use

  1. Wash your hands, put on new gloves, and prepare the work station with protective barriers on the machine, grip, and clip cord.
  2. Check the integrity of the individual sterile packaging before opening — if the blister is damaged or opened, do not use the cartridge.
  3. Quickly identify the configuration by the colored cap on the lower part of the cartridge and visually inspect the tip before mounting.
  4. Mount the cartridge into your machine or grip compatible with the cartridge system until it locks firmly; the patented safety membrane prevents blood and ink from entering the handle.
  5. Adjust the working depth of the needle (how much it protrudes from the tip) according to the shading or filling technique you are using.
  6. Dip the tip into the ink capsule — thanks to the capillary reservoir, you will refill less often, and surfaces fill constantly and quickly, which means less trauma to the client's skin.
  7. Work with uniform movements; the rounded edges of the Soft Edge configuration help with smooth transitions, without harsh lines at the edges of shading passes.
  8. At the end of the session, immediately dispose of the cartridge in a special sharps container — it is a single-use product and cannot be resterilized.

Tips from us

  • Use the Soft Edge configuration where it belongs: soft shading, gradients, and color blending — for firm lines and outlines, choose liner-type needles, not magnum.
  • Take advantage of the capillary reservoir in long shading sessions: fewer refills mean a smoother workflow and more uniform passes.
  • Organize your station by the colored caps — you identify the configuration at a glance and avoid confusion between cartridges during work.
  • Keep multiple magnum configurations in stock: the smaller ones for narrow areas and details, the wider ones for large surfaces — the choice depends on the area and style of the work.
  • Check the sterilization expiration date on the packaging before each use.
  • Even though the safety membrane protects the handle, continue to use disposable barriers and clean/disinfect the grip according to your standard procedure.
Warning: Sterile, single-use product: do not reuse it and do not attempt to resterilize it under any circumstances. Do not use cartridges with damaged packaging or expired sterilization. After use, dispose of it in a dedicated container for needles and sharps, according to studio hygiene regulations. The safety membrane (seal according to European standard EN 17169) prevents blood and ink from entering the handle, but does not replace standard hygiene: gloves, protective barriers, and disinfection or sterilization of reusable grips remain mandatory. Manufactured according to medical standard ISO 13485, stainless steel needles, 100% passed through microscopic quality control.

Frequently asked questions

What does 'Magnum Soft Edge (RM)' mean and what is it used for?

RM stands for Round Magnum: a magnum configuration where the needles are arranged with rounded edges, not straight. The result is a softer 'footprint' on the skin, leaving smooth transitions without harsh edges — that's why it's the typical choice for soft shading, gradients, realism, and color filling on surfaces. For outlines and firm lines, liner needles are used, not magnum.

What machines are these cartridges compatible with?

They are Cheyenne cartridges, designed for the manufacturer's cartridge system; in practice, they work with machines and grips that accept this type of cartridge. Before ordering, check in your machine's or grip's specifications that it is compatible with the Cheyenne cartridge system. If you are not sure, write to us with your machine model and we will help you verify.

What does Capillary technology bring compared to a regular cartridge?

Inside the tip there is a reservoir capillary, so these cartridges absorb and retain, according to the manufacturer, up to 10 times more ink than conventional cartridges. The ink is distributed evenly across all individual needles, including in large magnum configurations, so surfaces fill constantly, reliably, and quickly. Practically: you refill less often, go over the same area fewer times, and the client's skin suffers less trauma.

Can I reuse the cartridge on the same client at a future session?

No. It is a single-use product, sterile packaged, and must be disposed of after each session in a sharps container. There is no safe method of resterilization in the studio for a used cartridge — reusing it means a risk of cross-contamination, whether it's the same client or another.

How do I choose the right magnum size for my work?

The general rule: smaller configurations are suitable for narrow areas, delicate transitions, and details, while wider ones efficiently cover large surfaces (broad shading, color fills). The choice depends on the body area, your style, and how finely you want to build the tones. The colored caps on the lower part of the cartridge help you quickly identify the configuration at the station. Choose the desired size from the options available on the product page.

Is the price per piece or per box?

According to the product sheet, the displayed price is per cartridge piece. This way you can order exactly the quantity you need, in the configurations you use most often.

Product description

Cartridge needles Cheyenne Capillary needles are revolutionary because they retain 10 times more cough than those conventional cartridges. They have an improved needle guidance that allows much greater precision. Inside the tip of the cartridges there is a capillary with a reservoir, therefore these cartridges absorb more cough. Cheyenne Capillary needles ensure uniform distribution of the cough on all individual needles, even in large needle configurations such as the magnum ones. As a result, the work surfaces are filled constantly, reliably and above all quickly, which means less trauma for the client's skin. The needles are 100% passed through microscopic quality control. In the lower part of the needle, they have colored caps, for easier identification of the needle configuration. The needles have a patented safety membrane that prevents blood and cough from entering the handle. The sealing of the membrane complies with the requirements of the European standard EN 17169Cheyenne Capillary are needles manufactured according to medical standards (ISO 13485)Material: Stainless steel Single-use product, sterile packaged The price is per piece Cheyenne Capillary MAGNUM SOFT EDGE (RM) cartridge needles are the supreme combination for smooth shading: Cheyenne's patented capillary technology meets the Round Magnum configuration with rounded edges. The capillary system ensures perfectly constant ink flow, while the RM arrangement with progressively shorter outer needles creates seamless transitions impossible to replicate with standard magnums. The result is the dream cartridge for realism, photorealistic portraits, and any technique demanding gradients without visible edges. Manufactured entirely in Berlin, Germany, each needle is produced from premium surgical steel, polished at microscope level, and individually inspected for perfect alignment. Taper is specifically optimized for soft shading — longer than M1's, allowing gentle penetration ideal for progressive tone building. Gamma sterilization (superior medical standard), no chemical residues. Compatible with Cheyenne machines (Sol Nova, Sol Luna, HAWK) and most universal pen-style machines. Compared to Kwadron RM, Cheyenne Capillary RM offers incomparable flow at a premium price. Against Cheyenne Safety RM, the capillary advantage manifests in consistency over long sessions. Against Bishop Da Vinci RM, Capillary has superior precision but at considerably higher cost. Available from 7RM through 15RM. Box of 20 cartridges. The absolute gold standard for soft shading in the tattoo industry. Frequently Asked Questions
