Guide & full description

Complete guide: CARTRIDGE TATTOO NEEDLES LIMITED RL

The Limited series Round Liner cartridges are disposable tattoo needles, dedicated to lining: the needles are grouped in a compact round formation, suitable for outlines, fine lines, details, lettering, and script. They are made of stainless steel, sterilized with ethylene oxide, and individually packaged in a blister with a sterility indicator, and the integrated safety membrane prevents ink and fluid backflow to the machine. They are equally suited for beginner artists, practice sessions on synthetic skin, and high-volume studios that want a reliable cartridge without the price of premium ranges.

How to use

  1. Check the blister before opening: the seal must be intact and the sterility indicator visible. A damaged or opened blister must not be used.
  2. Prepare the workstation with gloves and protective barriers (film on the machine and clip cord/grip), then open the sterile blister only before the session, without touching the needle tip.
  3. Choose the RL configuration suitable for the work: the range covers from 1RL (single needle, micro-details) to 14RL (thick outlines). For fine lines, small groupings are used; for bold outlines, large groupings.
  4. Insert the cartridge into the pen or the cartridge adapter of the rotary machine until it locks into the standard grip, then check for any play — tighten the adapter properly if needed.
  5. Adjust the needle projection from the grip according to your technique and the type of line you are working on.
  6. Dip the needle in ink and test the flow on a disposable towel or on a piece of synthetic skin before the first line.
  7. During work, periodically wipe the cartridge tip of excess ink with a disposable wipe and re-dip in ink caps, not directly into the main ink container.
  8. At the end, remove the cartridge without touching the needle and immediately dispose of it in the sharps container. The cartridge must not be re-sterilized or reused.

Tips from us

  • If you are just building your stock, start with 3RL and 5RL — they are the most versatile and used configurations for fine lines and standard outlines; 7RL and 9RL are added for medium and thick outlines.
  • Practice on synthetic skin with the same configurations you will use on clients, to build relevant muscle memory — the affordable price of the series allows free consumption during training.
  • On fine groupings (1RL, 3RL) avoid very thick inks, which can block the flow through the needles; flow depends on ink viscosity, not brand.
  • Store the box in a dry place, away from moisture and sunlight, so that the blisters remain sealed and sterile until use.
  • If during the session the line starts to 'scratch' or the flow becomes inconsistent, change the cartridge — it's a consumable, and a worn needle ruins both the line and the healing.
  • The standard box contains 20 individually packaged cartridges; for high-consumption studios, it is worth ordering larger quantities.
Warning: Needle cartridges are single-use devices: an opened cartridge is used on a single client, in a single session, then discarded in the sharps container — never in household trash and never re-sterilized or reused. Do not use a cartridge if the blister is opened, punctured, or missing the sterility indicator. The safety membrane prevents fluid backflow to the machine, but does not replace the rest of professional hygiene: gloves, protective barriers on the machine and grip, disinfection of surfaces and non-disposable equipment after each client.

Frequently asked questions

What does 'RL' mean and what are these cartridges used for?

RL stands for Round Liner: the needles are grouped in a tight round formation, designed for lining. It is the basic configuration for outlines, fine lines, details, lettering, and script. For shading or filling, other configurations (shader/magnum) are used, so a set of RL strictly covers the line part of a work.

What machines are the Limited RL cartridges compatible with?

The grip is the standard cartridge grip, so they work with regular tattoo pens and with rotary machines equipped with a cartridge adapter, including adapters from reputable manufacturers. The only thing to check is that the adapter is tightened properly, so the needle has no play during work.

Which configuration should I choose if I am a beginner?

The most popular and versatile are 3RL (fine lines, details) and 5RL (standard outlines) — most artists use them as a work base. 7RL is suitable for medium outlines, for example in traditional style, and 9RL for thick outlines. 1RL is for single needle and micro-details and requires a mastered technique, so it is not the first choice for a beginner.

Can I reuse a cartridge if I only worked on synthetic skin?

It is not a recommended practice. Even on synthetic skin, the needle dulls, and dried ink inside the cartridge blocks the flow on the next use. The correct professional rule is simple and worth keeping even during training: one opened cartridge = one session, then the sharps container. That way you don't risk accidentally bringing a bad habit into work on clients.

Are they good enough for work on clients or just for practice?

They are suitable for professional work: stainless steel, safety membrane, ethylene oxide sterilization, and individually sealed blister are at professional standard. The difference from premium ranges like Kwadron or Cheyenne lies in finish and manufacturing tolerances, visible especially in ultra-detailed works — many artists use the Limited series for everyday lining and keep the premium ranges for single needle or top realism.

How many cartridges do I receive and how are they packaged?

The standard box contains 20 cartridges, each individually packaged in a sterile sealed blister, with a sterility indicator. This means you only open what you use, and the rest of the box remains sterile. For high-volume studios, there are also larger quantities at degressive prices.

Product description

Limited RL (Round Liner) cartridge needles are tattoo needles with a tight circular configuration, designed for precise lining and outlines at an accessible price without quality compromises. Manufactured from quality stainless steel with a polished finish, these Round Liner needles deliver reliable performance for everyday lining work. The RL configuration groups needles in a compact round formation, ideal for outlines, fine lines, details, lettering, and script work. The integrated safety membrane prevents ink and biological fluid backflow, meeting professional hygiene standards. Ethylene oxide sterilization and individual blister packaging guarantee sterility. Universally compatible with all standard tattoo pen machines. The Limited series is designed for artists who want a reliable, consistent cartridge without the premium cost of top-tier ranges like Kwadron or Cheyenne. Ideal for students, early-career artists, practice sessions on artificial skin, and high-volume studios consuming significant quantities of cartridges. Available in configurations from 1RL to 14RL, covering needs from single needle to thick outlines. The Limited series is manufactured with the same commitment to safety as premium ranges — every cartridge undergoes EO gas sterilization, has a tested safety membrane, and is packaged in a blister with sterility indicator. The price difference from premium ranges reflects a simplified finishing process, not compromises in safety or base materials. Artists transitioning from no-name cartridges to Limited immediately notice the difference in performance consistency and the healing quality of completed tattoos. Frequently Asked Questions What is the difference between Limited RL and Kwadron RL? The main difference is in finish level and manufacturing tolerances. Kwadron RL has a finer microscopic polish and tighter tolerances, delivering marginally cleaner lines. Limited RL offers very good performance at a significantly lower price. For most applications, the difference is subtle and only visible in top-level single needle realism. Is Limited RL good enough for client work? Yes, Limited RL is absolutely suitable for professional client work. The steel quality, safety membrane, and sterilization are at professional standards. Many professional artists use Limited RL as everyday needles for standard lining, reserving premium ranges only for ultra-detailed or single needle work. What are the most popular Limited RL configurations? The most popular Limited RL configurations are: 3RL for fine lines and details, 5RL for versatile standard outlines, 7RL for medium traditional outlines, and 9RL for thick, bold outlines. 1RL is used for single needle and micro-details. Most artists predominantly order 3RL and 5RL as their working base. Does Limited RL work well on practice skin? Yes, Limited RL is the ideal choice for practice skin sessions. Performance is good enough to develop correct technique, and the accessible price allows free consumption without cost concerns. We recommend practicing with the same configurations you will use on clients to build relevant muscle memory. How many Limited RL cartridges come in a box? Limited RL cartridges come in boxes of 20 pieces, each cartridge individually packaged in a sealed sterile blister. This standard quantity is sufficient for multiple work sessions. For high-volume studios, larger quantities are available with volume pricing, making Limited RL one of the most accessible options on the market. Can I use Limited RL with rotary machines with cartridge adapter? Yes, Limited RL is compatible with rotary machines equipped with a standard cartridge adapter. The attachment is universal and identical to any other professional cartridge. It works perfectly with adapters from Cheyenne, FK Irons, and other manufacturers. Ensure the adapter is properly tightened to avoid needle wobble. Does Limited RL have the same safety membrane as Kwadron? Limited RL integrates a functional safety membrane that prevents fluid backflow, similar in principle to Kwadron's. The membrane fulfills the same basic function — preventing cross-contamination. Subtle differences in membrane material and construction do not significantly affect the protective function under normal usage conditions. What ink works best with Limited RL? Limited RL works well with all professional tattoo inks. Inks like Dynamic Black, Eternal Ink, Intenze, or World Famous are all compatible. Ink flow through the RL configuration is not dependent on the ink brand but on its viscosity. Avoid excessively thick inks that may block flow through fine needles. Why choose Limited RL instead of no-name cartridges from Ali Express? Limited RL offers guaranteed steel quality, certified sterilization, and functional membrane — things no-name Ali Express cartridges cannot guarantee. Risks with no-name products include: contaminated steel, insufficient sterilization, defective membranes, and needles with micro-imperfections causing scarring. The price difference is minimal for patient safety. Is Limited RL suitable for lettering and script? Yes, Limited RL in 1RL, 3RL, or 5RL configurations is excellent for lettering and script. These configurations provide sufficiently fine and precise lines for most writing styles. For high-precision calligraphy or micro-lettering, demanding artists may prefer Kwadron RL, but for standard lettering, Limited RL performs very well.
