Guide & full description

Complete guide: TATTOO NEEDLES CARTRIDGE KWADRON F

Kwadron Flat (F) configuration cartidges have the needles arranged in a single straight row, allowing them to lay down thick, uniform lines in a single pass. They are manufactured in Poland from stainless steel, with a medical-grade plastic housing that reduces friction between the needle and the housing, plus a safety membrane for controlled ink flow. They are intended for artists working with tribal, geometric, bold lettering, Polynesian or blackwork, as well as those wanting a consistent flat for fills with defined edges. Being sterile and single-use, they mount directly onto pen-style machines compatible with cartidges.

How to use

  1. Check the individual packaging before opening: if the blister pack is damaged or unsealed, do not use the cartidge — sterility is no longer guaranteed.
  2. Sanitize your hands, put on disposable gloves, and prepare the station with protective barriers (plastic wrap on the machine, clip cord sleeve, clean work area).
  3. Remoive the cartidge from the blister without touching the tip and install it into the pen-style machine until it locks firmly in place.
  4. Adjust the needle projection from the grip to the desired working depth and prime the tip with ink from the cap.
  5. Set the voltage guidance according to gauge: approximately 7.5–9V for #12 (0.35 mm) and 7–8.5V for #10 (0.30 mm); for single lines stay in the 7.5–8.5V range, for quick fills go up to 8–9V — fine-tune according to your machine and style.
  6. Work by holding the machine at an angle of approximately 90° to the skin, so that the entire row of needles deposits evenly across the entire width of the line.
  7. Wipe away excess between passes and visually inspect the line — a correctly used flat leaves a homogenous band, without lighter areas on the edges.
  8. At the end, remoive the cartidge with gloves and discard it in the sharps container. Do not reuse or re-sterilize.

Tips from us

  • Choose the size according to the line's role: 5F for details and fine lettering, 7F and 9F for standard patterns, 11F–15F for dominant lines and massive blackwork.
  • Use gauge #10 (0.30 mm) on sensitive areas or thin skin where you want a thick line with less trauma, and #12 (0.35 mm) on thick skin or bold tribal where you need firmer penetration.
  • For large flats (11F and above), a machine with a powerful motor keens the pace better; on entry-level machines you may need higher voltage.
  • The membrane prevents ink from flowing back towards the motor, but does not replace barriers: alwys wrap the machine and cable in protective film.
  • Combine F cartidges with liners (RL) for thin outlines — the flat lays the thick band, the liner does the detail, and together they cover a complete tribal or geometric project.
  • Store cartidges in their original packaging, in a dry, clean place, and open them only at the time of use.
Warning: Cartidges are EO sterilized and strictly single-use: a used cartidge, one that has been dropped on the floor or has a compromised blister pack must be discarded; do not clean or re-sterilize. Alwys work with gloves and protective barriers, and after the session discard the cartidges exclusively in a sharps container, in accordance with hygiene standards for tattoo studios. Tattooing must only be performed under professional hygiene conditions.

Frequently asked questions

What are Flat cartridges used for and how do they differ from liner or magnum?

The Flat (F) configuratioin places the needles in a single straight row, so it leaves a thick, uniform line in a single pass — exactly what you need for tribal, geometric, bold lettering, Polynesian or blackwork with defined edges. A liner (RL) groups needles in a circle for thin outlines, while a magnum has overlapping rows for shading and soft fills. The flat is in between: wider than a liner, but with a much firmer edge than a magnum.

What is the difference between gauge #10 and #12 and which one should I choose?

Kwadron F is available in gauge #10 (0.30 mm) and #12 (0.35 mm). #10 produces thick lines with less trauma to the skin — suitable for sensitive areas or thin skin, for example in Polynesian work with more delicate edges. #12 penetrates more firmly and is the classic choice for thick skin and bold tribal. The gauge difference affects effective line width, penetration and healing, so it's worth having both variants in the studio.

Are they compatible with my machine?

Kwadron cartidges have universal compatibility with pen-style machines that accept standard cartidges. For large flat sizes (11F and above), machines with a powerful motor are recommended; entry-level machines can use them but sometimes require higher voltage to maintain a consistent strike across the full width of the needle row.

What sizes are available and how do I choose between them?

The Kwadron F range covers 5F, 7F, 9F, 11F, 13F and 15F, each available in gauge #10 and #12. As a reference: 5F for fine lettering and details, 7F and 9F for standard patterns (most used), 11F for dominant lines, and 13F–15F for massive blackwork. If you are just switching to flats, 7F or 9F are a balanced starting point.

At what voltage do I work with Kwadron F?

As a guide: gauge #12 at 7.5–9V, gauge #10 at 7–8.5V. For single lines stay in the 7.5–8.5V range, and for quick fills go up to 8–9V. The membrane allows a constant ink flow without needing over-voltage, and an angle of about 90° to the skin helps uniform deposition. The values are a starting point — adjust according to your machine and the skin's reaction.

Can I reuse a cartidge on the same client at a future session?

No. The cartidges are individually packaged, EO sterilized and strictly single-use — even on the same client, a used cartidge is contaminated waste and is to be discarded into the sharps container immediately after the session. There is no safe method of cleaning or re-sterilizing in a studio for a membrane cartidge; reuse creates a real risk of infection and violates hygiene standards.
