Guide & full description

Complete guide: TATTOO NEEDLES CARTRIDGE KWADRON RM MEDIUM TAPER

Kwadron RM (Round Magnum) cartridges with medium taper are sterile, single-use tattoo needles built for shading with fine control over working depth. The 316L surgical steel needles are arranged in a curved fan for even ink distribution, and the medium taper offers a more gradual penetration than the standard taper, but firmer than a long taper. They are designed for artists working in realism, portraits, and black & grey, where fine transitions and penetration control make the difference.

How to use

  1. Wash your hands, put on disposable gloves, and prepare the work station with protective barriers on the pen, clip cord, and surfaces.
  2. Check the individual blister: it must be sealed, intact, and within the expiration date printed on the packaging. If the packaging is damaged, do not use the cartridge.
  3. Remove the cartridge from the blister without touching the needle tip and mount it onto your tattoo pen with a standard grip, rotating until it locks firmly.
  4. Adjust the needle hang from the grip according to your shading technique.
  5. Set the machine — as a guide, the manufacturer recommends 5.5–7.5 V for delicate transitions and subtle washes, and 7.5–9 V for denser saturation; adjust according to your machine and hand.
  6. Dip the tip into the ink cup and work the shading with circular or pendulum movements, letting the magnum curvature deposit the pigment evenly without excessive pressure.
  7. If you change technique or area during the session, you can replace the cartridge in seconds without additional machine adjustments.
  8. At the end, immediately discard the used cartridge in a dedicated sharps container — it is strictly single-use.

Tips from us

  • Choose the configuration based on the area: small numbers (from 7RM) for narrow areas and details, large ones (up to 23RM) for shading on broad surfaces.
  • If you don't know which diameter to start with, 0.30 mm (#10) is the most versatile; 0.25 mm (#8) is suitable for ultra-fine shading and micro-realism, and 0.35 mm (#12) for areas requiring firmer saturation.
  • The medium taper is more forgiving due to gradual penetration, but you still need to maintain a consistent angle and depth to avoid blow-outs.
  • For rapid color packing on large areas, an RM with standard taper is more efficient; save the medium taper for fine transitions and precision work near outlines.
  • You can alternate between medium taper and standard taper in the same session — compatibility with the pen remains the same, so the change is instantaneous.
  • Test voltage settings on synthetic skin before working on a client, especially if switching from another taper type — medium taper typically requires a slightly lower voltage for the same saturation level.
Warning: Cartridges are sterilized with ethylene oxide and individually packaged in a blister — use them only once and only if the packaging is intact and within the expiration date. Never clean or re-sterilize a used cartridge. The integrated safety membrane limits backflow of biological fluids toward the machine, but does not replace basic hygiene: gloves, protective barriers, disinfecting the station between clients, and disposing of used cartridges exclusively in a sharps container. The packaging includes the lot number, manufacturing date, and expiration date — maintain traceability for your hygiene records.

Frequently asked questions

What is the difference between the Kwadron RM standard and RM Medium Taper?

The difference lies in the needle's taper geometry. The RM standard has a shorter taper, with more direct penetration and fast saturation — suitable for color packing and large areas. The RM Medium Taper has a longer taper, so the skin entry is more gradual and controlled, with less trauma. It's the preferred choice for precision shading in realism and portraits, where fine depth control matters.

Which machines are these cartridges compatible with?

Kwadron RM Medium Taper cartridges are universally compatible with tattoo pens that have a standard cartridge grip. You mount them directly, without adapters or additional machine adjustments, and can change them quickly during a session.

Can I reuse a cartridge on the same client at a future session?

No, absolutely not. Cartridges are single-use only: once removed from the blister and used, the cartridge must be disposed of in a sharps container at the end of the session, even if it's for the same client. There is no safe way to clean or re-sterilize a cartridge in a studio — pigment residues and biological fluids remain inside, and the membrane and needles are not designed for reprocessing.

I'm a beginner — what size and diameter should I choose?

To start, a 0.30 mm (#10) diameter is the most versatile choice, covering most shading applications. For configuration, go with a medium size from the available range (7RM–23RM) to practice control on average-sized areas, then expand to larger configurations for broad surfaces or to 0.25 mm if you're moving toward micro-realism.

Is the RM Medium Taper good for color packing?

It can be used, but it's not the first choice. The medium taper prioritizes control and finesse over saturation speed, so for dense and fast filling, an RM with standard taper is more efficient. However, for precision color packing in small areas or near outlines, the gradual penetration of the medium taper becomes a real advantage.

Does the medium taper affect tattoo healing?

More gradual penetration causes less tissue trauma, which in practice tends to mean less post-session inflammation and thinner scabs. Keep in mind, however, that healing primarily depends on your technique (depth, number of passes) and the client's aftercare — the right needle helps but does not compensate for a heavy hand.

Product description

Kwadron RM Medium Taper cartridges combine the advantages of the Round Magnum configuration with medium taper geometry, delivering a shading instrument with superior penetration control. Manufactured in Poland from 316L surgical stainless steel, these curved magnum medium taper needles allow the artist to work with enhanced precision in the upper dermis, reducing the risk of blow-out and excessive trauma. The Round Magnum configuration arranges needles in a curved fan for uniform ink distribution, while the medium taper adds an additional level of refinement — penetration is more controlled than standard taper but more aggressive than long taper, ideal for precision shading in portraits and realism. The integrated safety membrane prevents biological fluid backflow, guaranteeing every client's safety. Ethylene oxide sterilization and individual blister packaging ensure complete sterility. Universally compatible with all standard-grip tattoo pen machines. Available in multiple configurations from 7RM to 23RM. Kwadron RM Medium Taper is the choice of artists who demand flawless transitions and uniform saturation with maximum depth-of-work control. Kwadron's manufacturing process includes multiple quality control stages: 316L raw material selection from certified suppliers, precision CNC forming and sharpening, sub-micrometric polishing, membrane assembly in a clean room environment, and EO gas sterilization with individual integrity verification. The result is a product that professional artists can use with complete confidence, knowing every cartridge will perform identically to the previous one. Packaging includes complete information about batch number, manufacturing date, and expiration date, enabling full traceability of every product. Frequently Asked Questions What is the difference between standard Kwadron RM and RM Medium Taper? The main difference lies in the needle point geometry. Standard RM has a shorter taper, providing more direct penetration and rapid saturation. RM Medium Taper has a longer point, allowing more gradual skin entry with less trauma. Medium Taper is preferred for precision shading in realism and portraits, where fine control is essential. What tattoo styles is Kwadron RM Medium Taper ideal for? Kwadron RM Medium Taper excels in styles requiring fine transitions and precise control: realism, photo-realistic portraits, black and grey, and micro-realism. It is also excellent for delicate shading in Japanese style and subtle transitions in neo-traditional. Artists working with subtle grey tones appreciate the superior control medium taper provides. What voltage do you recommend for Kwadron RM Medium Taper for shading? For shading with Kwadron RM Medium Taper, we recommend 5.5-7.5V for delicate transitions and subtle washes, and 7.5-9V for denser saturation. Medium taper requires slightly lower voltage than standard taper for the same saturation level, as the more gradual penetration allows more contact time with the dermis. Is Kwadron RM Medium Taper good for color packing? Kwadron RM Medium Taper can be used for color packing, but it is not the first choice. Medium taper prioritizes control and refinement over saturation speed. For dense, rapid color packing, standard Kwadron RM or M1 are more efficient options. However, for precision color packing in small areas or near outlines, Medium Taper offers clear advantages. How does Medium Taper affect tattoo healing? Medium Taper contributes to faster and cleaner healing compared to standard taper. The more gradual penetration causes less tissue trauma, resulting in less post-session inflammation, thinner scabbing, and better color retention after healing. The skin recovers more evenly, and the final result shows cleaner transitions. What needle sizes are available for Kwadron RM Medium Taper? Kwadron RM Medium Taper is available with needle diameters of 0.25mm (#8), 0.30mm (#10), and 0.35mm (#12). The 0.30mm diameter is the most popular and versatile, suitable for most applications. The 0.25mm is ideal for ultra-fine shading and micro-realism, while 0.35mm is for saturation in tougher skin areas. Can I alternate between Kwadron RM Medium Taper and standard RM in the same session? Absolutely, many professional artists alternate between the two in the same session. They use RM Medium Taper for areas with fine transitions and details, then switch to standard RM for rapid color packing and large areas. Universal pen compatibility allows instant cartridge switching without additional machine adjustments. Is Kwadron RM Medium Taper suitable for sensitive skin tattoos? Yes, Kwadron RM Medium Taper is an excellent choice for sensitive skin. The gradual penetration of the medium taper significantly reduces trauma, meaning less pain for the client and reduced risk of overworking. It is particularly recommended for sensitive areas such as inner arm, ribs, neck, or areas with thin skin. How to choose between 0.25mm and 0.30mm for Kwadron RM Medium Taper? The choice depends on work style and desired result. 0.25mm (#8) is ideal for ultra-delicate shading, micro-realism, and subtle transitions where every shade matters. 0.30mm (#10) is the versatile standard option — it provides good saturation with fine control, suitable for most styles. If you predominantly work small-scale realism, choose 0.25mm. Does Kwadron RM Medium Taper work well with rotary coil machines? Kwadron RM Medium Taper cartridges are primarily designed for tattoo pens but are also compatible with rotary machines equipped with cartridge adapters. They are not directly compatible with traditional coil machines — those require long bar needles. For coil machines, look for the Kwadron traditional bar needle range.
