Guide & full description

Complete guide: KWADRON RS CARTRIDGE TATTOO NEEDLES

Kwadron RS (Round Shader) cartridges are single-use tattoo needles, manufactured in Poland from 316L surgical stainless steel, designed for concentrated shading and medium-surface fill-ins. The needles are grouped in a circular formation wider than that of Round Liner, making them suitable for localized shading, portrait details, and fills in confined areas. Each cartridge features an integrated safety membrane that prevents ink and fluid backflow, is individually sterilized with ethylene oxide, and sealed in a blister. They fit any tattoo pen with a standard cartridge grip, so you can use them regardless of the machine you work with.

How to use

  1. Check the blister before opening: it must be sealed, undamaged, and the expiration date on the packaging must not have passed. A compromised blister means compromised sterility — do not use it.
  2. Prepare a hygienic workstation: disposable gloves, protective barriers on the machine, grip and cable, disinfected surfaces.
  3. Open the blister from the indicated side without touching the needle, and insert the cartridge into the pen until it locks into the standard grip.
  4. Adjust the needle exposure length from the grip according to your technique and the machine manufacturer's recommendations.
  5. Load the tip with ink from disposable cups and do a brief function test before touching the skin.
  6. Work the shading or filling in controlled passes — according to the manufacturer, complete saturation is typically achieved in 2–4 passes, depending on the skin type; avoid overworking the area.
  7. Choose the configuration appropriate for the surface: the range goes from 3RS (fine shading, details) to 18RS (larger fill-ins).
  8. At the end of the session, remove the cartridge and dispose of it immediately in a sharps container. The cartridge is strictly single-use.

Tips from us

  • If you are a beginner, start with 5RS or 7RS with a 0.30 mm needle — the manufacturer recommends them as a good balance between coverage and control.
  • Choose the needle diameter according to style: 0.30 mm (#10) is the most versatile, 0.25 mm (#8) for ultra-fine shading and micro-realism, 0.35 mm (#12) for aggressive saturation and color packing.
  • The RS also works as a 'thick liner': small configurations (3RS, 5RS) produce wider, textured lines, appreciated in traditional and neo-traditional styles.
  • For whip shading, the RM is usually the first choice; however, small RS cartridges can give an interesting stippled texture — test on artificial skin first.
  • Keep the batch information from the packaging (batch, manufacture date, expiration date) in your studio records — you have full traceability for each cartridge used.
  • If after 3–4 passes the saturation is still not complete, stop and let the area heal; a later touch-up is safer than traumatizing the skin.
Warning: The cartridges are sterile and single-use: never resterilize or reuse a cartridge, not even on the same client in another session. Do not use a cartridge with an open, damaged, or expired blister. The integrated membrane prevents fluid backflow to the machine, but does not replace other hygiene measures — gloves, protective barriers, and station disinfection remain mandatory. After use, the cartridge must be disposed of exclusively in a dedicated sharps container, in accordance with tattoo studio regulations.

Frequently asked questions

What is the difference between RS and RL or RM — which one should I choose?

RS (Round Shader) has needles grouped circularly, wider than RL (Round Liner), and is designed for concentrated shading and fill-ins on small and medium areas. RL remains the choice for fine, precise lines. RM (Round Magnum) has needles arranged in a fan on two rows and covers large surfaces with softer transitions. In short: lines → RL, shading on small areas and details → RS, large surfaces and gradual transitions → RM.

Do Kwadron RS cartridges fit my machine?

Yes, if your machine is a pen with a standard cartridge grip — Kwadron uses the universal cartridge system, so it fits any pen compatible with this standard. If you work on a coil machine with needles on bar, the cartridges are not compatible without a dedicated cartridge grip adapter.

Can I reuse a cartridge if I only used it for a few minutes?

No, absolutely not. The cartridges are individually sterilized with ethylene oxide and are strictly designed for single use, on one client, in one session. Once removed from the blister and used, the cartridge comes into contact with biological fluids and must be disposed of in a sharps container. Resterilization in the studio is not a safe practice for this type of product.

I am a beginner — what RS configuration do you recommend?

The manufacturer recommends 5RS or 7RS with a 0.30 mm needle to start: they are sizes easy to control, with a good balance between coverage and precision. With 5RS you learn shading techniques on small areas, and with 7RS you move to moderate surfaces. Practice on artificial skin first until you steady your hand and understand the needle's behavior.

Can I draw lines with an RS cartridge?

Yes, but with a caveat: the RS produces thicker and softer lines than RL. Small configurations like 3RS or 5RS give wide, textured outlines — a popular technique in traditional and neo-traditional for a more organic look. For fine, precise lines, RL remains the correct choice.

How should I properly store the cartridges and how long can I keep them?

Keep them in the original sealed blister, in a clean, dry place, away from moisture and sources of contamination. Each package has the batch number, manufacture date, and expiration date — check the expiration before each use and do not use expired cartridges, as sterility is no longer guaranteed.

Product description

Kwadron RS (Round Shader) cartridge needles are specifically designed for concentrated shading and medium-area fills in professional tattooing. Manufactured in Poland from 316L surgical stainless steel, the Round Shader needles group in a wider circular formation than the Round Liner, enabling ink distribution across a moderate area with high precision. The RS configuration is the fundamental shading instrument — ideal for localized shading, portrait details, transitions in small areas, and medium-sized fills. The integrated safety membrane completely prevents cross-contamination by blocking backflow of ink and biological fluids. The standard taper provides direct, efficient penetration ensuring consistent saturation with every pass. Each cartridge is individually sterilized with ethylene oxide and sealed in blister packaging. Universally compatible with all standard cartridge-grip tattoo pen machines. Available in configurations from 3RS to 18RS, these cartridges cover varied needs — from fine shading with 3RS or 5RS to larger fills with 14RS or 18RS. Kwadron RS delivers the same legendary quality of the Polish brand. Kwadron's manufacturing process includes multiple quality control stages: 316L raw material selection from certified suppliers, precision CNC forming and sharpening, sub-micrometric polishing, membrane assembly in a clean room environment, and EO gas sterilization with individual integrity verification. The result is a product that professional artists can use with complete confidence, knowing every cartridge will perform identically to the previous one. Packaging includes complete information about batch number, manufacturing date, and expiration date, enabling full traceability of every product. Frequently Asked Questions What is the difference between Kwadron RS and Kwadron RM? Kwadron RS (Round Shader) has needles grouped tightly in a compact circular formation, providing concentrated, controlled shading. Kwadron RM (Round Magnum) has needles arranged in a curved fan across two rows, covering a larger area with softer transitions. RS is ideal for small areas and details, RM for large surfaces and gradual transitions. Can I use Kwadron RS for lining? Yes, Kwadron RS can be used for thicker, softer lines. Small configurations like 3RS or 5RS produce wider, more textured lines compared to RL. This technique is popular in traditional and neo-traditional styles for more organic outlines. However, for fine and precise lines, RL remains the superior choice. What RS Kwadron configuration do you recommend for beginners? For beginners, we recommend Kwadron RS in 5RS or 7RS configurations with 0.30mm needles. These sizes offer a good balance between coverage and control, being easy to handle without advanced experience. 5RS is ideal for learning shading techniques on small areas, while 7RS is for practicing shading on moderate surfaces. How does Kwadron RS compare to RS cartridges from other brands? Kwadron RS stands out through superior needle finish quality and consistent geometry between batches. Compared to brands like Peak or TATSoul, Kwadron offers a tighter membrane and more accessible pricing. Compared to budget brands, the quality difference is dramatic — Kwadron needles lack the micro-imperfections that cause scarring and excessive pain. What tattoo techniques are best suited for Kwadron RS? Kwadron RS excels in: concentrated shading in portraits, color fills in small areas, stippling and dot work, thick textured lines in traditional, shading in lettering, and fine details in ornamental. It is the most versatile needle type after RL, functioning as a hybrid between liner and shader in small configurations. What is the optimal number of passes with Kwadron RS for full saturation? With Kwadron RS, full saturation is typically achieved in 2-4 passes, depending on skin type and machine voltage. Normal skin requires 2-3 passes, while thicker or resistant skin may need 3-4. Avoid overworking — if saturation is not complete after 4 passes, stop and wait for healing; a touch-up may be needed. Is Kwadron RS suitable for whip shading technique? Kwadron RS can be used for whip shading, but it is not the first choice for this technique. Whip shading works better with RM due to the needle curvature. However, small RSs (3RS, 5RS) can produce interesting and unique whip shading effects with a more point-like texture than RMs. Experiment on practice skin first. What needle diameter is most popular for Kwadron RS? The 0.30mm (#10) diameter is the most popular and versatile for Kwadron RS, offering a perfect balance between ink flow and control. 0.25mm (#8) is preferred for ultra-fine shading and micro-realism, while 0.35mm (#12) is for aggressive saturation and dense color packing. Most professional artists use 0.30mm as their standard. How should I store Kwadron RS cartridges properly? Kwadron RS cartridges should be stored in their original sealed packaging at room temperature, away from direct light and humidity. Do not open the blister until the moment of use. Always check the sterility indicator before use — if the packaging is damaged or the indicator shows sterility compromise, do not use the cartridge. Observe the expiration date. Is Kwadron RS better than RS cartridges from Chinese brands? The difference is substantial. Kwadron RS is manufactured in Poland with individual quality control on every needle, from medical-grade 316L steel. Generic Chinese brands typically use inferior steels, have larger manufacturing tolerances, and membranes can be inconsistent. The result: Kwadron delivers cleaner lines, less pain, and better healing.
