Guide & full description

Complete guide: PMU Limited RS Cartridge Tattoo Needles

This is a disposable needle cartridge in Round Shader (RS) configuration — needles arranged in a circle — designed for uniform shading and filling in micropigmentation (PMU): powder brows, ombre brows, lip blush, and color corrections. The needles are made of stainless steel with an extra-polished finish to protect delicate facial skin, and the cartridge includes a safety membrane and comes sterilized with ethylene oxide, individually packaged. It is intended for PMU technicians — from beginners to experienced artists — and fits PMU pens and tattoo machines with standard cartridge grip. The series covers configurations from 3RS to 7RS.

How to use

  1. Wash your hands, put on disposable gloves, and prepare the work area: disinfected surfaces and protective barriers on the pen, cable, and everything you touch during the procedure.
  2. Check the individual cartridge packaging: it must be sealed, intact, and within the expiration date. If the blister is damaged, sterility is no longer guaranteed — do not use it.
  3. Choose the configuration appropriate for the procedure: in the 3RS–7RS range, 3RS gives a fine, natural pixel effect, while 5RS covers faster with a denser powder effect.
  4. Open the blister immediately before the procedure and mount the cartridge onto the pen using the standard grip system until it locks firmly.
  5. Adjust the needle projection length and voltage according to the technique and pen — for lip blush, the product description indicates approximately 5–7V; start low and increase gradually.
  6. Do a quick test outside the skin (on a foil or glove) to check needle movement and pigment flow.
  7. Work with gentle, consistent passes, reloading pigment regularly; on facial skin, multiple gentle passes are preferable to a single aggressive pass.
  8. At the end, remove the cartridge and dispose of it immediately in the sharps container. It is single-use — do not clean or re-sterilize.

Tips from us

  • Combine RS and RL in the same session: RL draws lines (hair strokes, lip contour), RS shades and fills — together they cover a complete PMU procedure.
  • Record the lot number from the packaging in the client's file: cartridges are traceable by lot, and the record helps with any future checks.
  • The safety membrane reduces contamination risk, but does not replace protective barriers on the pen and cable — use them for every client.
  • Store cartridges in their original packaging in a clean, dry place, away from moisture.
  • Keep at least two configurations in stock (e.g., 3RS and 5RS): different clients require different powder densities, and changing the cartridge during the session takes just a few seconds.
Warning: Single-use product, intended exclusively for professional use: a new, sealed cartridge for each client and each session — never reuse or re-sterilize. Do not use cartridges with damaged or expired packaging. Micropigmentation is performed near the eyes and mucous membranes, so hygiene is critical: gloves, protective barriers, surface disinfection, and disposal of used cartridges in a sharps container. PMU procedures should only be performed by trained technicians in authorized facilities.

Frequently asked questions

What is the difference between RS and RL cartridges?

RL (Round Liner) has needles grouped tightly for fine lines — hair strokes on brows, lip contour, eyeliner. RS (Round Shader) has needles arranged in a circle, more spaced out, for shading and filling — powder brows, ombre brows, lip blush. They are complementary tools: RL draws, RS shades and fills. A complete PMU procedure typically uses both.

Which configuration should I choose for powder brows?

From the 3RS–7RS range, 3RS or 5RS are typically used for powder brows. 3RS gives a finer, more natural pixel effect, suitable for subtly powdered brows; 5RS covers faster and leaves a denser powder effect for a more defined look. If you're a beginner, get both configurations and practice on synthetic skin first.

Does it fit my PMU pen?

The cartridges are compatible with PMU pens and tattoo machines that have a standard cartridge grip. If your pen accepts standard system cartridges, it mounts directly. However, check your device's manual — some pens use proprietary grip systems, and those only work with dedicated cartridges.

Can I reuse the cartridge for the same client's touch-up session?

No. The cartridge is single-use: once opened and used, it comes into contact with pigment and biological fluids and cannot be properly sterilized in the studio. For a touch-up, open a new, sealed cartridge — its cost is negligible compared to the risk of contamination.

How do I know a cartridge is sterile?

Each cartridge is sterilized with ethylene oxide and individually packaged, with a lot number for traceability. Before use, check three things: the blister is sealed and intact, the expiration date has not passed, and the packaging shows no signs of moisture or damage. If in doubt, switch to a new cartridge.

Can I use RS for scalp micropigmentation (SMP)?

The 3RS configuration is also used in SMP, where it produces a softer, more diffused effect, suitable for blend and transition areas. For well-defined follicular points, many specialists prefer liner configurations (1RL or 3RL). If you work with SMP frequently, it's useful to have both types on hand.

Product description

PMU Limited RS (Round Shader) cartridge needles are specialized needles for shading and filling in permanent micropigmentation procedures. The Round Shader configuration arranges needles in a moderate circular formation, optimized for uniform pigment distribution across small areas of facial skin. These needles are the fundamental instrument for techniques such as powder brows, ombre brows, lip blush, and color corrections. Manufactured from stainless steel with an extra-polished finish, PMU Limited RS needles minimize trauma to delicate facial skin, ensuring rapid healing and natural results. The integrated safety membrane is critical in PMU — working near eyes and mucous membranes requires complete elimination of contamination risk. Ethylene oxide sterilization and individual packaging guarantee maximum safety. Compatible with all PMU and tattoo pen machines with standard grip. The PMU Limited series offers accessibility to PMU technicians without compromising safety standards. Available in configurations from 3RS to 7RS, these cartridges cover the full range of facial shading procedures — from subtle ombre to full lip blush. The PMU Limited series is manufactured with particular attention to the specific requirements of facial micropigmentation — the needle finish is additionally polished to minimize micro-imperfections that cause discomfort on sensitive facial skin. Each cartridge complies with European regulations regarding single-use medical devices and is fully traceable through the batch number. Certified PMU technicians particularly appreciate the Limited series' consistency, which allows them to focus on technique without surprises caused by needle variability. Frequently Asked Questions What PMU procedures are suitable for PMU Limited RS? PMU Limited RS is ideal for: powder brows (makeup-effect powder eyebrows), ombre brows (gradient from light to dark), lip blush (full lip coloring), eyeliner shading, color corrections on old PMU, and facial scar camouflage. Any PMU procedure requiring uniform shading or filling. What is the difference between PMU Limited RS and PMU Limited RL? PMU Limited RL (Round Liner) is designed for fine lines — eyebrow hair strokes, lip liner, eyeliner. PMU Limited RS (Round Shader) is designed for shading and filling — powder brows, lip blush, ombre. They are complementary instruments: RL draws, RS shades and fills. Most complete PMU procedures require both. What PMU Limited RS configuration do you recommend for powder brows? For powder brows, we recommend PMU Limited RS in 3RS or 5RS configuration. 3RS provides a finer, more natural pixel effect, ideal for subtle powder brows. 5RS offers faster coverage and a denser powder effect, ideal for clients wanting a more defined look. Both produce the classic powdered eyebrow result. What voltage do I use for lip blush with PMU Limited RS? For lip blush with PMU Limited RS, we recommend voltage between 5-7V. Start at 5V and gradually increase until you achieve desired saturation. Lips are a sensitive area with abundant vascularization, so work with light, constant movements. Optimal voltage depends on the pen used and the individual skin response of the client. Is PMU Limited RS suitable for scalp micropigmentation too? Yes, PMU Limited RS in 3RS configuration is frequently used for scalp micropigmentation (SMP). The RS configuration produces dots that simulate hair follicles. However, for SMP, many specialists prefer 1RL or 3RL for more defined dots. RS offers a softer, more diffuse effect, suitable for blend and transition areas. How do procedures done with PMU Limited RS heal? PMU procedures performed with PMU Limited RS heal in 7-14 days for the initial phase, with complete color maturation in 4-6 weeks. In the first days, slight inflammation appears and color looks more intense. After exfoliation (days 5-10), color fades 30-50% before stabilizing at the final shade. Touch-up at 4-6 weeks. Can I combine PMU Limited RS with PMU Limited RL in the same session? Absolutely, this is standard practice in professional PMU. For example, for combo brows: use PMU Limited RL for individual hair strokes, then PMU Limited RS for shading between strokes and the powder effect. For lips: RL for liner, RS for lip blush. The combination delivers the most natural and complex PMU results. What pigments do you recommend for PMU Limited RS on powder brows? For powder brows with PMU Limited RS, we recommend quality PMU pigments like Permablend, Li Pigments I-Line, Phi Contour, or Tina Davies I Love Ink. Choose pigments with warm or neutral base depending on the client's skin tone. Avoid pigments with too cold a base that may shift toward grey or blue over time. Does PMU Limited RS require special training before use? The cartridge itself does not require special training — it mounts identically to any other cartridge. However, PMU procedures themselves absolutely require accredited professional training. Working on the face involves significant risks: eye proximity, mucous membranes, complex vascularization. Do not practice PMU without professional certification and supervised experience. How many PMU Limited RS cartridges do I need for a lip blush session? For a complete lip blush session, plan for 3-5 PMU Limited RS cartridges. Lips are an area with special requirements — abundant vascularization causes frequent bleeding that reduces needle effectiveness faster. Change the cartridge after each lip and have reserves. The first session requires more cartridges than the touch-up.
