Guide & full description
Complete guide: Vertix Pico Needles RM
The Round Magnum configuration cartridges from Vertix's compact Pico series are designed for fluid shading and fine transitions — the needles are arranged in a curved fan pattern across two rows, which distributes pigment evenly and reduces skin trauma. The compact cartridge body reduces weight on the pen and improves maneuverability, a real advantage in long sessions. They are a suitable choice both for artists working with realism, portraits, and black and grey, and for beginners wanting a reliable shading cartridge at an affordable price.
How to use
- Check the individual sealed blister before use — if the packaging is damaged or opened, do not use the cartridge.
- Sanitize your hands, put on disposable gloves, and prepare the work station with protective barriers on the pen and surfaces.
- Remove the cartridge from the blister without touching the tip and secure it onto your pen — cartridges are universally compatible with standard pens.
- Adjust the needle exposure length from the grip and set the voltage: guideline 5.5–7 V for delicate transitions, 7–9 V for standard shading, and 8–10 V for dense saturation; always start at the lower value and adjust.
- Dip the tip into the ink capsule and check the pigment flow before working on skin.
- Work the shading with broad, steady strokes, letting the curved magnum configuration distribute the ink evenly — do not press excessively; the curved design reduces trauma precisely because the edges do not 'bite' the skin.
- After the session, remove the cartridge and immediately dispose of it in the sharps container — it is a single-use device.
Tips from us
- If you don't know which size to start with, 9RM and 11RM are the most versatile and cover most styles; then complement with 7RM for fine details and 13RM–15RM for large areas and backgrounds.
- For grey wash, use low voltage and progressive dilutions — the curved magnum configuration distributes even diluted ink evenly, allowing subtle grey tones.
- The anti-backflow membrane protects the pen from ink reflux, but continue to use protective barriers on the machine — the membrane does not replace station hygiene.
- For pure color packing and maximum rapid saturation, a flat M1 is more efficient; save the RM for shading, transitions, and soft edges.
- Store the box in a dry place, away from sun and moisture, with each cartridge in its original blister until use.
- The compact Pico body reduces hand fatigue during long sessions — take advantage of this by planning large shading pieces with these cartridges.
Frequently asked questions
Which pens are these cartridges compatible with?▾
Vertix Pico RM cartridges have a standard grip system and are universally compatible with standard tattoo pens. If you use a regular pen machine with a cartridge system, they mount directly without adapters.
What size should I choose if I'm a beginner?▾
Start with 9RM or 11RM — these are the most requested and versatile sizes, suitable for most shading work. The full range goes from 7RM (fine details) up to 23RM (very large areas), so you can expand your set as you define your style.
How many cartridges come in a box?▾
The standard box contains 20 cartridges, each individually packaged in a sealed sterile blister. For high-consumption studios, check tatuat.ro for bulk quantity offers.
Can I reuse a cartridge if I sterilize it?▾
No. Tattoo cartridges are single-use devices — after contact with skin and bodily fluids, they cannot be safely sterilized, and reuse poses a serious risk of infection and cross-contamination. They are disposed of after each client, in a sharps container.
What voltage should I work with them?▾
Guideline: 5.5–7 V for delicate transitions, 7–9 V for standard shading, and 8–10 V for dense saturation. Start at the lower value and gradually increase until you achieve the desired result — the optimal voltage depends on the pen used, your technique, and skin type.
RM or M1 — what's the difference and when should I choose each?▾
With RM (Round Magnum / curved magnum), the needles are arranged in a curved fan pattern, giving soft transitions, even shading, and edges without harsh lines — ideal for realism, portraits, and black and grey. The flat M1 packs color faster and denser, so for pure color packing it is more efficient. With Pico RM you can also do moderate color packing with fine edges, but its main role is shading.
