Unscrew the spherical ball from the end of the bar.
Insert the bar through the canal from inside to outside, so that the flat disc (the 'foot') remains on the inside, near the gum and mucosa.
Screw the ball back onto the outer end and tighten firmly, but without forcing the thread.
