Guide & full description

Complete guide: Adapter Inkmachines from clipcord to RCA

This adapter is the original Inkmachines part that bridges tattoo machines equipped with binding posts (clipcord terminals) — such as Dragonfly or Stingray — and modern power supplies that only have RCA output. It mounts directly onto the machine's terminals and provides a standard female RCA port at the free end, to which you connect any industry-standard RCA cable. It is especially useful if you upgrade to a new RCA power supply without giving up your clipcord machine, or if you work on the go where only RCA equipment is available. Note: the adapter does not include the RCA cable — it is purchased separately.

How to use

Turn off and disconnect the machine from the power supply before any installation or removal.
Identify the two binding posts (+ and - terminals) on the machine body.
Mount the adapter onto the binding posts respecting polarity: + to +, - to -.
Tighten firmly, without forcing, for a stable electrical contact.
Connect a standard RCA cable to the adapter's female RCA port.
Connect the other end of the RCA cable to the power supply.
Check polarity again before powering on — reversing it can cause the machine motor to run in reverse.
Turn on the power supply at a low voltage and confirm the machine operates normally before moving to your usual working voltage.

Tips from us

Choose a quality RCA cable with a metal connector and shielding to reduce electromagnetic interference — the adapter does not come with a cable included.
Periodically clean the adapter contacts with isopropyl alcohol to prevent oxidation and maintain consistent conductivity.
Check your machine's connection type before ordering: the adapter works only on Inkmachines machines with binding posts, not on those with native RCA or magnetic connection.
Prefer the original Inkmachines adapter over a generic one — contacts made from inferior materials oxidize faster and can cause imprecise mounting or unstable voltage.
If your machine is Scorpion X1, you first need optional binding posts (part no. 47) mounted on it, otherwise the adapter has nothing to grip onto.
If you often work on the go, keep the adapter in your kit along with an RCA cable — it saves you if at your destination you only find a power supply with RCA output.

Warning: Always turn off and disconnect the machine from the power source before mounting or removing the adapter. Observe polarity (+/-) when mounting — reversed polarity can cause the machine motor to run in reverse. Periodically check the condition of the contacts: an oxidized or loose contact can cause variable resistance and unstable machine operation. Use the adapter only on Inkmachines machines with binding posts and do not force mounting onto incompatible connections (native RCA or magnetic).

Frequently asked questions

What exactly does this adapter do?▾

It converts the clipcord (binding posts) connection of an Inkmachines machine into a standard RCA connection. It mounts onto the two metal terminals of the machine and provides a female RCA port at the output, to which you connect a regular RCA cable. This way you can use a clipcord machine with any modern power supply that only has RCA output, without modifying the machine or the power supply.

Which Inkmachines machines is it compatible with?▾

With all Inkmachines machines equipped with binding posts: Dragonfly (all generations and color variants) and Stingray, plus Scorpion X1 when fitted with optional binding posts (part no. 47). It is not needed and does not work on machines with native RCA connection or magnetic connection (such as Cobra). Check your machine's connection type before ordering.

Does the adapter include the RCA cable?▾

No. The adapter only provides the female RCA connector mounted on the machine — the RCA cable is purchased separately. Any quality RCA cable from the tattoo industry is compatible; recommended with a metal connector and shielding for minimal interference.

How do I care for the adapter contacts long-term?▾

Clean them periodically with isopropyl alcohol to prevent oxidation — a dirty or oxidized contact can create variable resistance and voltage instability. Store the adapter dry and avoid forcing installation or removal on the binding posts to avoid deforming the contacts.

Does the adapter affect machine performance?▾

A quality original adapter does not significantly affect performance. The electrical resistance added by the contacts is negligible (under 0.01 ohm) and does not produce perceptible voltage loss at the machine's working voltages (0-13V DC). The only real risk is an oxidized or dirty contact — that's why periodic cleaning with isopropyl alcohol matters.

Can I use the adapter in reverse, from RCA to clipcord?▾

No. This adapter works in one direction only, from binding posts (clipcord) to RCA. If you have a machine with native RCA and a power supply with only clipcord, you need a different adapter, RCA to clipcord.

Product description

Adapter Inkmachines from clipcord to RCAAdapter RCA adapter for Scorpion X2. Allows a more vertical angle of the RCA cable for more freedom. Does not include RCA cable The Inkmachines Clipcord to RCA Adapter is the original accessory that enables connecting Inkmachines tattoo machines equipped with binding posts (clipcord terminals) to power supplies or cables with RCA connectors. Inkmachines machines — Dragonfly, Stingray, and earlier models with clipcord connections — can thus be used with any modern power supply equipped exclusively with RCA output, eliminating the need for a dedicated clipcord-output power supply. The adapter mounts on the machine's binding posts and provides a standard female RCA port at the output, compatible with all RCA cables in the tattoo industry. Quality material construction ensures optimal electrical transfer without power loss or interference — critical for maintaining the constant voltage that determines machine performance. Contacts are nickel-plated or gold-plated brass for maximum conductivity and oxidation resistance. The compact design adds no significant weight to the machine and does not alter the ergonomic balance. This adapter is essential for tattoo artists upgrading from clipcord power supplies to newer RCA models without needing to replace their machine. Also useful for traveling artists who find only RCA power supplies available at their destination. Compatible with all Inkmachines machines with binding posts: Dragonfly (all versions), Stingray, and Scorpion X1 with optional binding posts (part no. 47).
