Guide & full description

Complete guide: Inkmachines nr. 110 - Conversion Kit - 1pcs

This Conversion Kit no. 110 is the original Ink Machines part (made in Sweden) that transforms the Scorpion tattoo machine to work with standard (regular) cartridges, instead of the traditional needle + grip + tube setup. It is designed for artists who own a Scorpion X1 and want to switch to the modern cartridge system without buying a new machine. The conversion is reversible, so you can always go back to the classic assembly. In short: you upgrade the machine you already have.

How to use

First check that you also have the Precision tool kit no. 90 — it is required for installation and purchased separately. Without it, the precision tolerances of Inkmachines parts can be difficult to respect.
Download and open the Scorpion manual from inkmachines.com before starting; go through the machine's exploded diagram and assembly/disassembly steps.
Work in a clean, well-lit space, with the machine disconnected from power. This is a workshop modification done once, not a field operation during a session.
Disassemble the traditional configuration (needle + tube) following the manual step by step, using the tools from set no. 90.
Install the Give adapter (part no. 148), which adapts the drive mechanism, and the Grip adapter (part no. 146), which allows mounting cartridge grips.
Use the Stay up spring (part no. 24) if you prefer — it is an optional component, depending on preference.
Install a standard cartridge, check the free movement of the needle and correct locking before use.
Test on practice skin before working on a client, to confirm everything works correctly.

Tips from us

Keep the original disassembled parts safe: the conversion is reversible, so you can always return to the needle + tube system depending on preference or consumable availability.
Use only the tool set no. 90 recommended by Inkmachines; improvised tools may be unsuitable for precision tolerances and can damage components.
Keep the Scorpion manual handy throughout the installation, open to the exploded diagram.
If you have a Scorpion X2, you do not need this kit — the X2 comes with the Conversion Kit no. 110 already included from the factory. The kit is intended for Scorpion X1 owners.
If you are not comfortable with the mechanical disassembly of a premium machine, contact an authorized distributor or Inkmachines support.

Warning: This is a mechanical modification that requires skill and the correct tools — do not force the parts and respect the precision tolerances, otherwise you risk damaging the machine. On the hygiene side, valid regardless of the needle system: during work, use protective barriers (film/bag on the machine, sleeve on the clip cord, grip cover), disinfect the machine and reusable grips between clients, and the cartridge is single-use and discarded after each session. One advantage of switching to cartridges is precisely the superior hygiene, thanks to the single-use design.

Frequently asked questions

What exactly does kit no. 110 contain?▾

The kit includes the Stay up spring (part no. 24, optional use depending on preference), the Give adapter (part no. 148), which adapts the drive mechanism, and the Grip adapter (part no. 146), which allows mounting cartridge grips. The Precision tool kit (part no. 90) is also required for installation and is sold separately. All components are original Inkmachines.

What cartridges can I use after conversion?▾

After installing the kit, Scorpion accepts standard (regular) cartridges from the tattoo industry — from most manufacturers such as Cheyenne, Peak, Kwadron, Vertix and other brands with standard format. Note: Neo Inkmachines cartridges require a different adaptation version, not this kit.

I have a Scorpion X2 — do I need this kit?▾

No. The Scorpion X2 comes with Conversion Kit no. 110 already included from the factory and is designed natively for cartridges. The kit is intended exclusively for Scorpion X1 owners who want to upgrade their machine for use with cartridges.

Is the conversion reversible?▾

Yes. After installation you can return to the traditional needle + tube configuration by removing the adapters and reinstalling the original components. This flexibility allows you to switch between systems depending on preference or consumable availability.

How do I properly maintain and sanitize the machine and grips after conversion?▾

During work, use protective barriers (film on the machine, sleeve on the clip cord, grip cover) to avoid contamination. The cartridge is single-use and discarded after each client. Reusable grips and the machine body are disinfected between sessions according to your hygiene protocol. Switching to cartridges simplifies maintenance because you eliminate the manual assembly of needle + tube.

Can I do the conversion myself or do I need a technician?▾

You can do it yourself if you have basic mechanical skills and the tool set no. 90 — the Scorpion manual contains step-by-step instructions and exploded diagrams. It is a one-time workshop modification. If you are not comfortable disassembling a premium machine, contact an authorized distributor or Inkmachines support.

The kit includes components needed to adapt the Scorpion mechanism to standardized tattoo cartridges available on the market: Stay up spring (no. 24, optional use), Give adapter (no. 148), Grip adapter (no. 146), and requires the Precision tool kit (no. 90) for installation. The Scorpion X1 was originally designed for the traditional needle + grip + tube configuration, and Conversion Kit no. 110 extends its versatility by allowing transition to the modern cartridge system without requiring a new machine purchase.
