This is the original Ink Machines no. 115 slide set for the Scorpion X1 rotary machine: two precision pieces, one for the right side and one for the left side, which guide the opening and closing of the machine head on its body. It is a replacement part for artists and technicians who maintain or repair a Scorpion X1 — the slides wear out from repeated friction with each head opening/closing, and when play increases, they are replaced as a pair. The set contains 2 pieces, and the bags are numbered 1 and 2 to easily identify the correct side during assembly.
Why are the slides sold in a set of 2?▾
The slides work as a symmetrical pair — one on the right and one on the left — and must be replaced at the same time to maintain the head's alignment and symmetry on the body. A new slide mounted next to a worn one causes asymmetric alignment and play on one side only. That is why the set contains both pieces (R and L).
Do X1 slides also fit the Scorpion X2?▾
No. The Scorpion X2 uses a different part (no. 215 — X2 Slides) with different dimensions. The two sets are not interchangeable, so make sure you get the slides for your machine model.
How can I tell that the slides are worn?▾
Typical signs are: the head no longer slides smoothly (it sticks or the movement is jerky), visible lateral play when the head is mounted, a metallic noise when opening/closing, or the head no longer seals perfectly against the body, leaving visible gaps. If you notice these signs, it is time to replace the set.
Do the slides need lubrication and maintenance?▾
Yes, minimal maintenance helps. A small amount of synthetic oil on the sliding surfaces every few weeks keeps the movement smooth and reduces friction wear. Important: do not apply excessively, as oil can migrate inside the machine.
