Guide & full description

Complete guide: Inkmachines nr. 115 - Slide - 1pcs R + 1pcs L

This is the original Ink Machines no. 115 slide set for the Scorpion X1 rotary machine: two precision pieces, one for the right side and one for the left side, which guide the opening and closing of the machine head on its body. It is a replacement part for artists and technicians who maintain or repair a Scorpion X1 — the slides wear out from repeated friction with each head opening/closing, and when play increases, they are replaced as a pair. The set contains 2 pieces, and the bags are numbered 1 and 2 to easily identify the correct side during assembly.

How to use

  1. Prepare a clean, well-lit workspace, ideally with a tray to catch small components. Have the Scorpion machine manual handy.
  2. Identify the correct side before anything: the two slides are slightly different for left and right, and the bags are numbered 1 and 2 — do not mix them up.
  3. Disassemble the machine head according to the Scorpion manual until you reach the existing slides. The Inkmachines precision tool kit (no. 90) is useful for assembly.
  4. Remove the worn slides and clean the slots of old oil and residues before mounting the new pieces.
  5. Mount each new slide on its correct side (R on the right, L on the left), making sure it fits into place without forcing.
  6. Check alignment: open and close the head a few times — the movement should be smooth, without lateral play and without metallic noise.
  7. Optionally, apply a minimal amount of synthetic oil to the sliding surfaces and wipe off any excess.
  8. Test the machine dry, without a client, before using it for work, to confirm everything functions correctly.

Tips from us

  • Always replace both slides at the same time, even if only one seems worn — a new piece mounted next to a worn one creates asymmetric alignment and play on one side.
  • Lubricate moderately: a drop of synthetic oil on the sliding surfaces every few weeks keeps the movement smooth; excess oil can migrate inside the machine.
  • Periodically check the head's seal against the body — worn slides leave gaps through which ink and fluids can enter the internal mechanism.
  • Also check the condition of the sliding channels on the head; if they are worn or deformed, new slides alone will not fully solve the problem.
  • If the installation is beyond your ability, take the machine to a technician — it is a medium-complexity operation that requires attention to alignment.
  • Keep the numbered bags 1 and 2 until you finish assembly, as a reference for the left/right side.
Warning: Mount each slide on its correct side (R/L) and check the head alignment before use: a wrongly placed or worn slide leaves gaps at the head-body interface through which ink and fluids can enter the mechanism, compromising the machine's seal. Work on a clean surface during service and avoid excess oil. Do not use the machine on a client until you confirm that the head movement is smooth, without play and without noise.

Frequently asked questions

Why are the slides sold in a set of 2?

The slides work as a symmetrical pair — one on the right and one on the left — and must be replaced at the same time to maintain the head's alignment and symmetry on the body. A new slide mounted next to a worn one causes asymmetric alignment and play on one side only. That is why the set contains both pieces (R and L).

Do X1 slides also fit the Scorpion X2?

No. The Scorpion X2 uses a different part (no. 215 — X2 Slides) with different dimensions. The two sets are not interchangeable, so make sure you get the slides for your machine model.

How can I tell that the slides are worn?

Typical signs are: the head no longer slides smoothly (it sticks or the movement is jerky), visible lateral play when the head is mounted, a metallic noise when opening/closing, or the head no longer seals perfectly against the body, leaving visible gaps. If you notice these signs, it is time to replace the set.

Do the slides need lubrication and maintenance?

Yes, minimal maintenance helps. A small amount of synthetic oil on the sliding surfaces every few weeks keeps the movement smooth and reduces friction wear. Important: do not apply excessively, as oil can migrate inside the machine.

Can I install the slides myself?

Yes. With the Inkmachines precision tool kit (no. 90) and the Scorpion manual, assembly is possible on your own. However, it is a medium-complexity operation that requires attention to alignment and correct placement of each piece on its side — if you lack experience, it is better to consult a technician.

Do I need to replace the head along with the slides?

Not necessarily. If it is not damaged, the new slides will integrate with the existing head. However, check the condition of the sliding channels on the head — if they are worn or deformed, the head may also need replacement for optimal results.

Product description

Inkmachines nr. 115 - Slide - 1pcs R + 1pcs LIncludes 2pcs The Slides are slightly different and should be mounted on the correct side of the machine. The bags are numbered 1 and 2 for identification. Inkmachines Part No. 115 — Slide (1 piece Right + 1 piece Left) represents the set of original slides for the Inkmachines Scorpion X1 tattoo machine, the precision components that guide the opening and closing of the machine cap on its body. The slides function as a pair (Right + Left) and allow access to the Scorpion's internal mechanism for service operations, cam changes, and internal component maintenance, while maintaining perfect cap-to-body alignment. Manufactured from high-precision metal alloy with polished surface finish, the slides ensure smooth, play-free movement of the cap on the machine body. This precision is critical for the Scorpion's sealed design — a cap that does not align perfectly creates gaps through which ink and fluids can penetrate the internal mechanism. As parts subjected to repeated friction at every cap opening/closing, the slides wear over time: surfaces strip, mechanical play increases, and alignment deteriorates. The set includes both slides (R and L) because replacement must be done as a pair to maintain symmetry and alignment. The set is priced at 35.00EUR, reflecting the manufacturing precision required. Compatible with Scorpion X1. Frequently Asked Questions
