Guide & full description

Complete guide: Inkmachines nr. 114 - Grip Seal - 1pcs

The grip seal is the sealing gasket that seals the joint between the grip (tube) and the body of the Inkmachines Scorpion tattoo machine. Its role is to prevent ink, fluids, and particles from entering the mechanism — exactly at the point most exposed to contamination. It is a part that wears over time and is replaced periodically, so it is intended for any artist working with a Scorpion who wants to maintain the integrity of the sealed system. Part no. 114 is designed for the Scorpion X1 model.

How to use

  1. Turn off and disconnect the machine from the power source, then remove the grip/tube from the Scorpion body.
  2. Remove the old gasket from the dedicated channel on the machine body — it is not repairable, it must be replaced.
  3. Clean and disinfect the channel area with a disinfectant recommended for tattoo equipment and allow the surface to dry.
  4. Place the new gasket in the channel, pressing it evenly around the entire circumference, without twisting or folding.
  5. Reattach the grip/tube to the Scorpion body, ensuring the gasket stays in place.
  6. Tighten the grip securely according to the machine's instructions.
  7. Reconnect the machine to the power source and test its operation.

Tips from us

  • Keep a few spare gaskets on hand so you can immediately replace a degraded one without interrupting your schedule.
  • Store the gaskets at room temperature, away from direct light and chemicals, to preserve their elasticity.
  • Avoid cleaning with aggressive solvents (e.g., acetone) — they rapidly degrade the elastomer; use only disinfectants recommended for tattoo equipment.
  • Inspect the gasket at every grip change: look for ink trapped underneath, deformations, cracks, or loss of elasticity.
  • Before ordering, confirm your machine model (X1 or X2) — the gaskets are not interchangeable between them.
Warning: The grip seal is a contamination barrier, not just a mechanical part: if it is worn or missing, ink and biological fluids can get inside the machine. Do not use the machine with a gasket that is cracked, deformed, or no longer seals. Clean and disinfect only with products recommended for tattoo equipment and follow standard hygiene rules in the studio (protective barriers, disposable consumables). Replace the gasket at the first sign of degradation — the cost is much lower than the risk of contaminating the internal mechanism.

Frequently asked questions

What is the grip seal used for on the Scorpion machine?

It creates a tight barrier between the grip/tube and the machine body. It prevents ink, blood, and fluids from entering the Scorpion's sealed mechanism. Without a functional gasket, the advantage of the sealed design is lost, and the internal components remain exposed to contamination.

How often should the gasket be replaced?

It is a part that is changed periodically — approximately every 2-4 months of intensive professional use — but the best indicator remains visual inspection: replace it as soon as deformations, cracks, loss of elasticity, or ink trapped underneath appear.

Does the X1 gasket also fit the Scorpion X2?

No. Part no. 114 is for the Scorpion X1; the X2 uses part no. 214 (X2 Grip Seal), with dimensions adapted to its architecture. The two are not interchangeable, so check your machine model before ordering.

Is it resistant to disinfection and sterilization?

Yes, the elastomer withstands chemical disinfection with standard solutions and autoclaving at moderate temperatures. Strong solvents (acetone, chloroform), however, degrade it rapidly, so avoid them and use only disinfectants recommended for tattoo equipment.

Can I use a generic gasket from another brand?

It is not recommended. The dimensions of the Scorpion gasket are specific; one with a different diameter or thickness either does not sit correctly in the channel or does not seal. The original part is the safe solution to maintain the seal.

What happens if I use the machine without the gasket?

The internal mechanism remains exposed to ink, blood, and biological fluids. In the short term, ink can reach the metal components; over time, accumulated residues can lead to mechanical defects. You essentially cancel the advantage of the Scorpion's sealed design, so do not use the machine without a gasket in good condition.

Product description

Inkmachines nr. 114 - Grip Seal Inkmachines Part No. 114 — Grip Seal is the original grip sealing gasket for the Inkmachines Scorpion tattoo machine, the component that seals the junction between grip and machine body, preventing ink, biological fluids, and particles from penetrating into the sealed mechanism interior. The Scorpion sealed design is a key Inkmachines brand differentiator — and the grip seal is the element that makes this sealing possible at the most vulnerable point: the grip-machine interface where contamination is most likely. Manufactured from medical-grade elastomeric material, the grip seal maintains flexibility and sealing properties across a wide temperature range and after repeated exposure to sterilization agents. The gasket mounts on the machine body and creates a circumferential sealed contact with the inserted grip/tube. Natural wear of the elastomeric material under repeated grip mounting-dismounting cycles, along with exposure to cleaning solvents, causes progressive gasket degradation. Replacement signs: ink visibly penetrated under the gasket, the gasket no longer firmly adheres to the surface, or deformed/cracked material. The affordable price of just 2.00EUR makes the grip seal a consumable part that should be periodically replaced, not repaired. Compatible with Scorpion X1. Frequently Asked Questions
