Guide & full description

Complete guide: Hummingbird Pen Wireless Bronc X1 Tattoo Machine - Grey

The "Bronc X1" from Hummingbird is a wireless "pen" style tattoo machine with a detachable battery and a Swiss-made DC motor. It is designed for artists who want freedom of movement without a power cord and fine control over their work, thanks to the adjustable stroke and needle depth. The low vibration and noise levels make it suitable for long sessions, both for lining and shading.

How to use

Fully charge the detachable battery before the session — fast charging in 2–2.5 hours via USB-C connector.
Mount the compatible needle/cartridge on the machine head, following the manufacturer's indicated locking direction.
Adjust the stroke length within the 2.6–4.0 mm range: lower values for fine lines, higher values for shading.
Set the needle depth within the 0–4.5 mm range, depending on the area being worked on and skin thickness.
Set the voltage starting from the recommended range of 5.5–7.5 V (total available range 5.0–11.0 V) and adjust progressively.
Test the settings on artificial skin before starting work on a client, especially after any change in stroke, depth, or voltage.
Cover the machine with a disposable barrier before working on a client.
After the session, disassemble, clean, and disinfect reusable components; clean the battery only externally, without immersion in liquid.

Tips from us

For fine lines, use a shorter stroke (towards 2.6 mm) and lower voltage; for shading or color saturation, increase the stroke towards 4.0 mm.
The motor has a high no-load speed (11,000 rpm), so maximum voltage is not needed for good results — most work is done comfortably within the recommended 5.5–7.5 V range.
If working long sessions, keep a second charged battery handy — the declared autonomy is 7.0–9.0 hours per battery.
Note down your settings (stroke, depth, voltage) that work for each type of job, so you can easily reproduce them next time.
Even though vibrations are low, take regular breaks for your hand and wrist during long sessions.

Warning: Always use disposable needles/cartridges and a protective barrier on the machine body for each client. Disinfect reusable surfaces after each session according to your studio's hygiene protocol. The detachable battery must not be submerged in liquid — clean only externally with a damp (not wet) cloth. Do not use the machine on skin with lesions, irritations, or active infections.

Frequently asked questions

What type of needles are used with the Bronc X1?▾

Being a "pen" format machine, it is built for the cartridge needle system, standard for this type of machine. For exact confirmation of the grip system and compatibility with specific cartridge brands, check the product's technical sheet or ask a tatuat.ro consultant before ordering.

How long does the battery last and how long does charging take?▾

The 2000mAh, 3.7V, type 18500 Li-Ion battery provides a declared working time of 7.0–9.0 hours, and a full charge takes 2–2.5 hours via USB-C connector.

What voltage should I set for a start?▾

The available range is 5.0–11.0 V, but the manufacturer recommends 5.5–7.5 V for most work. Start at a low value within this range and increase gradually, testing on artificial skin.

How do I choose the right stroke length?▾

The stroke is adjustable between 2.6 and 4.0 mm. A shorter stroke is suitable for fine lines and details, while a longer one is for shading and larger color areas.

How do I maintain and sanitize the machine between clients?▾

Use a disposable protective barrier on the machine body for each client, disposable needles/cartridges, and disinfect reusable components after each session. Clean the battery only externally, without submerging it in liquid.

Is it suitable for a beginner artist?▾

Being adjustable on three levels — stroke, needle depth, and voltage — it offers useful flexibility even for beginners, but it requires understanding what each adjustment does. We recommend practicing setting combinations on artificial skin before working on a client.
