This part is the standard drive magnet, in the White variant, for the Scorpion X1 tattoo machine from Ink Machines. What is the difference between the White and Red magnets?▾
The White (Standard) magnet is the normal power variant, included from the factory. The Strong (Red, no. 121) magnet is 25% stronger and is recommended for resistant skin and large needle groupings. The difference lies in magnetic power, not stroke — both produce the same 3.7mm stroke. Red offers more torque to maintain constant speed under heavier loads.
When should I use the White magnet?▾
White (Standard) is suitable for lining with RL needles, shading with RS needles and small magnums, color packing on normal skin, and general work that does not require extreme power. It is the daily-use variant for most artists. Switch to Red only when you feel you need more torque.
How do I install the drive magnet?▾
It mounts on the magnet holder (part no. 116) and is secured with the magnet screw (part no. 142). Open the machine head, access the magnet holder, place the magnet in the correct position respecting polarity, and secure it with the screw. Finally, center it by checking that the gap from the grip is equal all around the circumference.
Is it included when purchasing the Scorpion machine?▾
Yes, every Scorpion machine comes factory-equipped with the Standard Drivemagnet (White). Part no. 120 sold separately is intended for replacing a damaged magnet or purchasing an additional one as a spare.
Does the White magnet also work on Scorpion X2?▾
Scorpion X2 uses its own set of magnets (part no. 220 — X2 Drivemagnet Standard). A physical fit may exist, but it is not guaranteed by Inkmachines. The recommendation is to always use the part specific to your model.
How do I store a spare magnet and does it demagnetize over time?▾
Keep it in its original packaging, at room temperature, in a dry place and away from electronic devices, magnetic cards, and other magnets. Do not let two loose magnets attract each other — the impact can break them. Under normal conditions, neodymium magnets retain their field for decades; perceptible demagnetization occurs only at extreme temperatures or repeated severe mechanical shocks.
